My son is in Ship 09 Division 140 if anyone wants to join me in a discussion. I have found this site incredibly helpful and supportive

Welcome to ship 09 div 140. this site is very informative and encouraging. Did he say why he got to call you yesterday? I am carrying my phone all around work just in case my son, Josh calls. I missed the three week call. He also had all four wisdom teeth pulled. He hates the dentist so this was a big step for him. Just to let you DIv 139 and Div 140 are going to wear navy blue scarfs at PIR. I live in Fairfield Calif. Again welcome to the site and DIV 140 family. He is 25 but first time away from home.

I guess they allowed everyone else to make their calls earlier, and since he was laid up he didn't get his phone call. I was shocked that he called on a Sunday, and that I had 15 minutes to talk with him. I will look around to see if i can find a Navy blue scarf. I don't live in a very populated area, but I will see what I can find. If I cant find something here I am sure I can find one online. Does anybody know how much graduation pictures cost? I send letters all the time and it seems like we are always a week behind....(mail is very slow here).

This too is my sons first time away from home. Both times I have had a chance to talk to him he sounds like a little boy again. Funny because when I took him to the airport to go he couldn't wait to get there. HAHA! Now he is counting down the days till boot camp is over!

My fiance is from the Bay area, he wont be attending PIR. He is usually my chauffeur, beings I don't do very well in big city traffic. Unfortunately he has to work so I will be attending alone.

Again I am very thankful I have found this site.

Did he have any news about the division? Has he made friends?

Most of us div 140 moms didn't get calls last week at all. There are only a few of us on this site, but I told mine to spread the word to other recruits about it.

On the bright side his brother's first grade class finished the banner. They addressed it to the whole division and drew pictures. I hope they get to enjoy it for a few minutes. I realize they probably can't post it, but it's the thought that counts. It's great and I hope everyone likes it! It's about 10 feet long.

I asked him how things were going in the division. And if he had gotten into anymore trouble for talking about the weather....he got PT for talking! He said that most of the division is doing fine. And that there were a couple that as he put it "just dont get it". He has made many new friends, however he hasnt mentioned anyone by name. He sounded good, and he has passed all requirements to date. He says that he just does as he is told, and tries to be a leader. He also said that another call may be coming in the next week. So hold on to your phone ( I dont go anywhere without mine) your SR may call at any time.

That is so cool that the have put together a banner for the recruits. Can you get a picture of it and post it on here so we can all see it. Kids are the greatest, they make us all feel good about ourselves.

If Zack calls I will ask him if he knows any of the SR's first name.
I haven't been able to figure out how to get the picture from my phone to here. I have it on facebook if you want to send me an invite... let me know
Thank you for the advice Mumsy.  I booked flights into Milwaukee as it is cheaper than Chicago and hopefully not quite as crazy.  The only problem is that every airline I checked, the flights are nonrefundable unless I wanted to pay $800+ a ticket, versus the $250 that we paid.  So, I'm just praying that my son's PIR date doesn't change.  We are flying in Thursday and leaving Sunday.  I will rent a car too.  I received a short letter today.  He does sound hopeful.
Hi I just go my son's letter today. He passed his second PFA so he is so relieved. He wrote a long letter all week and sent it out on Sunday so I know what he did all week. It was so cool to go through a whole week with him. He has learned alot and passed alot of test so I think he will do fine for the next three weeks. He keeps saying he is struggling but then all through the letter he kept mentioning passing test. He is so critical of himself he doesnt know how to be proud of himself. Well I hope others get letters and hope all SRs are doing good.

Did you book with Southwest?  They don't refund on the special or "get Away" but they will move it.  But it won't change ... be positive!

I love southwest!!

I got a letter today! It was dated the 22 of March. I really hate that the mail here is so slow. It seems like I am always more than a week behind. So I wont know until next week how he has done this week. He sounded good, and says that one of his best friends just arrived to boot camp....followed by what I would give to see the look on his face when he steps off the bus. I am so glad that he hasn't lost his sense of humor! No mention of how any one is doing in his letter, just kept telling me to write him more. He also said that his A school is 27-33 weeks long at GL, and then after-wards he would be going on to Norfolk for C school. I feel like a little kid running to the mail box to see if he has sent anything, and I smile for hours after I read his letter. I am just so proud! Only 21 more days. Gosh I sure do miss my son.
We got a letter today too! He wrote it over a week. Sounded good. Come on 4/22! I am worried on the potential date change too, but have to just not worry (how?)

Did he talk about passing any test this week. If they dont call as time goes on it means they are on time. I think this was the hurlte to get over and they will graduate on time. Good seeing you on here I was wondering where everyone has been. I will be going to Jcpenneys this weekend to see if i can find a navy blue scarf I didnt the one online you were mentioning. I will get one> i also ordered ribbons and will wear that too. Talk to you later.

Even though his letter was dated 3-22-11 their letters wont go out until the following Sunday so we will always be a week behind. They now can write on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and then sent out on Sundays. I get apprehensive on Wednesdays and Thursdays too. One week I didnt get until Friday and I just fell apart until I saw the letter. See you on 4-22-11.
