You all make me smile.

Thanks Michele to you and Shane. We will be lifting him up next week too!

Thanks Sandra for your prayer. No offense - prayers are always welcomed.

Nursemom/Sandra - what can I say about the exes?? Well, simply put - they ARE EXES! 'nough said.

Lil's Mom - thanks for your well wishes and the same goes out to you and your daughter's division and all of the very fine young men and women that are going to be working tirelessly throughout the next week to become Sailors. I owe them all my complete gratitude for not only their efforts, but for what they stand for.

I do love them all!

I got my letter today - well 3 letters. Only one from Ryan. It was extremely short as they all have been lately, but in his very artistic form, he drew an amazing picture of the Texas flag waving and said "Guess what?"  He is too cute. He is so excited to have received his orders for SAN ANTONIO!!! Yes!  Happy Dance time....  (_\_)  (_!_)  (_/_)

I had to smile at the other 2 boys' letters. They each wrote something along these lines: Dear (last name) Mom, Your son asked me to write to you because he has been on watch and hasn't had enough time to write. One even was nice enough to say that there is no excuse for him not having time since I do such a wonderful job of making sure that he and other boys get mail. That made me smile. So, he is telling other guys to write to me because he is on watch. He is simply hilarious!

Because of the other letters, I was informed that this week was crazy busy with 3 days of firefighting, 2 inspections, and the final PFA and all before BS Thursday night. Wow - that sure is a lot!

Seems there have been a bunch of sick young men in the division too. They are hanging in there though. Ryan said he also had pink eye. That shouldn't keep him down as long as they don't isolate him.

I can't wait for my call tomorrow!!!!!!!! Rest well everyone - if you can.

~stephanie

Stephanie-
Mine was one that was on light duty for 2 days then complete bedrest for another 2 days. Hopefully he is doing much better by tonights battle stations. He also missed all of his fire fightening last week. He had to make that up this week.
I am so glad you got 3 letters this week.

My son wrote but never talks much about what they are doing or what they will be doing.  He is losing his enthusiasim for the whole thing, I am afraid.  Haven't heard anything about what they have done or flags earned or people he is with.  Harumph.

Praying hard and very distracted tonight.

yea for SA - you can go sit in the airport with me!  maybe - not that they are on the same flights since mine is going to Florida....still......maybe the same airport......

*\o/*  *\o/*  cheerleaders with pompoms

Hopefully they will go to the same airport. I will wait for you.

I think they are all very tired. It has had to have been a very long 7 weeks for them. I am sure that they will feel better when they get to make thier calls tomorrow. Hope and pray!

When I talk to him tomorrow, I will ask about how much time he might have and then I think I will just change my flight and hotel. There will be no reason for me to stay. I could possibly get home and see him. He thinks he may be able to work out being home before A school to work with his recruiter. That doesn't seem right, but I have definitely learned to go with the flow.

I am cheering right along with you! Going to try to get some sleep tonight and taking Zyrtec so I can breathe!

Good night!

Thats it ladies its BS time!.

My son is one of them. He has had a fever for three weeks, but is hanging in there. He said he wont give up for his brothers.

Ladies keep up posted when you get THE CALL....

I am hoping that they are all receiving their Navy caps right now.  I am still slightly bummed that I won't be able to spend the weekend with my son as planned.  I am stressing a little about this airport thing.  How do we know what time to arrive at the airport and which airport?  Will they know when they call us?  I want to spend as much time with him as possible even if I have to take a taxi to get there.

I have a credit with Southwest Air.  I think I am going to try to visit him in San Antonio at some point.  Maybe I will go for his graduation.  My husband and I have a business/leisure trip planned for September.  It is ashame it is not while he is there.  I will have some down time by myself.  It would have been fun to hang out with him.  Oh well.  I am going to not stress about things I have no control over..

Looking foward to a call today.  (FYI, It is April fools day)

Yes nursemom, it is fool's day. I half anticipate my son trying to prank me at first. It is just like him to do something like that.

You have the right idea. There is no sense in stressing over things that you have no control over. I plan to ask quite a few questions today when I have him on the phone. He will have more information than anyone and if he doesn't, he can get it! I am hoping that he has enough information for me to change my travel plans.

Hang in there. On the good side, no matter what you are going to be seeing him in a week. SEEING HIM! Isn't that fantastic?!?!?! Wow, I am so very excited and anxious and just totally proud. We likely all have sailors right now.  I like the sound of that too!  :0)

Post when the calls start coming in. Everyone will be in a very different mood then and we have waited a long time to talk to these boys again. Take your phone to the bathroom with you!

Stephanie - I absolutely expect my son to prank me - he had me so convinced one April fools, that he was in jail after a drunken brawl that I started yelling at him and told him he would have to find an attorney on his own and that we were cutting him off and bringing him home from college......I just went on and on and he started laughing - oh mom, this went way better than I ever expected!  April Fools!  !!!!!!!!!!

They will know their travel plans but probably not today - I have been researching this since I knew my son was leaving Saturday for a long time - they usually don't know their travel plans until right before PIR.  But who knows - they might.  This IS the Navy, after all.

Ah - he is good! My son is the same way. He just can't keep a straight face long enough to pull one over on me. On the phone, he might just get away with it.  :0)  I think I am armed for it today though!!

I don't anticipate him having flight information just yet. I simply want to know if they will indeed ship him out on Saturday night. If so, then I will start changing my plans and maybe I will let his father know so that we can make some plans.

Damn - I am a basket case today. I keep tearing up and I don't think I should be at work. I am simply worthless. Thank goodness the end of our quarter was yesterday. I think I can slide by a bit today.

Tick tock - tick tock - tick tock - tick tock - that's how I feel and it is driving me INSANE!

I am also very useless and unproductive today.  Went to the gym to work out but couldn't stop checking my phone just to make sure I did not miss a call.  I know it won't be yet but, just in case.

I have to write everything I have to do down on paper today.  My short term memory is just terrible today.  I think after the phone call, I am going to crack open a cold one and chug it or pour a shot of tequilla.

I am also trying to get together small items he might need over the next few weeks to pack in a black bag for him.
