Hello Ladies!!! I too am the PROUD mom of a Sailor. After several round and round phone calls my son was able to connect with me at my hotel in London. My youngest son was calling my husband who was on the phone with me telling him to give him the phone number so he could pass it on and eventually the next time the phone rang it was HIM!
I could barely hear him his voice was so hoarse and he sounded so tired but I could tell he was so very glad to be thru with almost all of Boot camp. He told me that he wouldn't get his flt info and stuff till Tuesday and he would share it with me on Friday. He mentioned he thought he would be leaving out of O'Hare rather than Midway which is better. So maybe there will be quite a few of us "hanging out in the USO" with our guys. :>)
I didn't have internet connection at the hotel last night (wasn't going to pay 25$ for less than 24 hours) so here I sit at the airport and I have loved reading everyone's comments! Laughed some and cried some. People kind of look at me a bit weird, but who cares!! Sorry I missed being able to raise my glass with you for a toast but definitely in GL. For all those in the Houston area listen for a plane flying over about 2:15ish today - that'll be me and trust me - I'll have a BIG grin on my face.
Ya'll take care and have a fabulous Saturday. Our 'boys' are now Sailors and I am so proud of each and everyone of them. Can't wait to see all the smiling faces in LESS than a week now. (Ive been waiting to say that for 7 weeks now).
Hugs to all-
Traci
PS-Shane is going to do just great next week!
OH Traci, I am so very happy for you. I was so worried that you would miss a call again. I have tears running down my cheek right now with joy!
YES! It is almost perfect! The only one we are missing is Shane. :'0( It is all good though because he has a larger family now and so will WE! This has been such an incredible journey. I don't know how mothers do this without this kind of support. You ladies have helped to lift me up so much and I appreciate you all being here. I can't wait to meet you all.
Good news Traci! He didn't give up looking for you to give you his news.
Yes Shane is missing;( but he will do great next week and we will be supporting him.
I agree with you Stephanie. This web site is the best thing ever. I didn't speak much but I was glued and will continue to be. My hubby joined a web site for dads for support. We must share this web site with everyone so they to can get support like us. My son told me about this web site because Shane asked him if Michele and I were friends. That was before I knew about N4M. I told him I didn't know what he was talking about. I searched for the site and joined and now Michele and I ARE friends. Out of 45,000 members I connected with her. I appreciate all you ladies and hope to meet you next week.
Hugs
Sandra
Great news Traci.
Ragdollrae- what did you decide to do with your flight for next weekend. I looked very late last night in change flight option everything was so much more expensive. I didnt want to risk mins lost at the airport with Dustin Saturday by booking a flight mid day. He also said they have their briefing Tuesday about all their flight and moving issues.
I am also like Sandra I didnt speak to often just every now and a again but followed the board multiple times a day and you guys gave me so much info it was great and truely appriciated.
Hi Five,
I actually changed my flight this morning and I saved $25 on Southwest. I know that Ryan will be at the airport early Sat morning (he said around 2pm) so I switched my flight for 11am on Saturay. I figure that either way, I will take all of my stuff from the hotel and have it in the car. I will stay up all night with him and then be ready to leave at 11 - if we are in the same airport - GREAT! If not, I will do what I need to in order to get the flight on time. I didn't realize that I booked nonrefundable hotel because I didn't book through the hotel, but I will still save with the change in airfare and car rental.
I am off to visit my evil mother. I will be back later this evening. Good luck with making plans. I know it is tough, but sometimes you just have to decide and make a plan that you can live with. This is probably easier for me though since my son is moving somewhere close and I might be able to see him soon.
Let me know what you all decide. Enjoy your weekend!
Can you ask about them? That is all my son wants is to eat good pizza.
Thanks
I just missed a phone call from my son :( The phone is sitting right next to me went straight to voicemail.
They must be in heaven eating Taco Bell and drinking red bull haha. This is not good at all :( We dont get any time with them at all if they leave Friday. We will do what we have to do.
