Son leaving for BOOTCAMP 4-7-11...anyone else with the same start date?

My son is headed for Great Lakes on 4-7-11 ( or maybe he goes to MEPS first and from there to Boot).  He has been DEP since November 2010 and is anxious  to start basic.  After basic he is to go to Meridian, MS for "A" school.  Can anyone tell me if they get much liberty between basic and "A" school?

My son is leaving on April 3 and will then go to North Charleston for Nuke school.  I wonder when their grad date will be?

Hi Gail,

My son is leaving April 4th and will be going to Nuke School after that too.

That is very cool!  I heard from David at 4 a.m. this morning with a text saying he arrived at Boot Camp.

my email is: gailmindy@gmail.com if you want to take it off this site.

Best,

Gail (Houston)

I go to RTC about 2 weeks (18 APR 2011) after him. We're also headed to the same base for A-School. :)
I'm leaving for rtc on 4-20 :)
My A school is getting moved from Great Lakes to San Antonio. :)
Hi my name is Patty and my son Sean leaves on April 6
Hi Patty!  My son also leaves on April 6...will arrive at boot camp on Thursday April 7!  It's only 4 days away and tonight is his "going away" party with all his friends.  My son will leave from St. Louis, Missouri sometime on Thursday and arrive at Great Lakes later that evening.  He has been doing lots of sit-ups, push-ups, and running in order to get in shape.  I think I am more nervous, about his departing, than he is!  He seems pretty calm about the whole thing!  He has been in DEP since November .  Let me know what's going on with you.

Hi-I think I am more nervous too!  Sean leaves from Jacksonville FL and guess arrives the same time your son does.  He has been on DEP since October.  Sean is with his friends and his sisters tonite for his last good bye-gosh the time snuck on me.  Do you feel the same?!!  I hope we can stay in touch thru all this.  Will be  good to know a mom who is as nervous as me.

Oh yeah...the time from my son's enlistment, until now, really flew-by!!!  We briefly attended his going-away party last night...but we felt sort of "out-of-place" since everyone at the party was at least 30 years younger than us!  The party didn't begin until 9 PM and we went home shortly after 10.  I just received a call, from Luke, asking me to come pick him up and bring him home...and it's 9 AM now!  Once he got into our house he took two tylenol and went to bed!  I expect to see him up and moving around ( maybe doing sit-ups, push-ups, and running) around 3 PM today!  Otherwise, i imagine, he'll be sleeping!  I only have today, tomorrow, and Tuesday to spend time with him...before we take him to the recruiters on Wednesday morning and hug him good-bye!  It's hard for me to fathom that I won't be seeing him for eight weeks!  His dad, and I, definately plan to go to graduation (hopefully June 3) as Great Lakes is only about a four hour drive (north) from our home here in Illinois.  We will keep in touch and wouldn't it be something Sean & Luke ended-up in the same "ship"...aka barracks?!!!

Sean is spending the day with me and I am so happy for that-it would be great if Sean and Luke ended up together.  I can understand how you felt out ofplace at the party-I know I would have too.  Had a family one last week and it was great.  I can't believe that the last hug I will have for long time is only a few short days away.  I am going to plan on the graduation too so I hope we can meet!!! So nice to know you are in teh same boat as me-makes me feel better to have a friend to talk to.  Patty

oh-let me know how it goes Wednesday-take care

I'm glad, too, Patty that I've found someone in the same boat as I am!  Luke is my only child and I've pretty much spoiled him over the years...now I am so nervous that maybe I spoiled him TOO MUCH...and the Navy life  will be such an adjustment for him!  But Luke has been out of high school for 5 years and living on his own for the past three years...working 2 jobs, 7 days a week...so he has cut the apron strings so to speak.  But still...I usually saw Luke once or twice a week and talked to him, via cell phone, whenever I wanted to:  This going to the Navy is going to change a LOT of things for me!  Luke DID move back home, just over a month ago, in order to spend more time with us...and to save some $ (ha!).  I'm sure Luke will do just fine, in the Navy, but what do moms do but WORRY?!!!    I'll definately let you know how Wednesday's saying good-bye till June turns out.!    Sheri
Yesterday Sean drove away to go spedn the night with his sisters and it made me sad to realize that is teh last time he will drive away before teh navy.  so many memories came back.  He is my youngest child-has 3 older sisters and I think I spoiled him also and even though he had moved out 2 years ago I still talked and saw him too.  I am going to miss him and I know he will do fine-I think as moms we are more nervous!!  What an adventure and glad we are in this together.  Patty
