Hi Ladies,

Ryan called also. I have not seen him on the internet, but I have been so busy with household chores that I have not been on the computer or really sat down until he called. He needs to get some meds but said if he was SIQ today, he would not have gotten to call! He couldn't take the peanutbutter shot because he is allergic to penicillin. I didn't know that was the peanut shot. Anyway, says he is on antibiotics and getting better.

Her also confirmed that he heard about the Friday leave time also. I had gone ahead and changed my fligth to later on Saturday, and now I wish that I hadn't. I just need to stop - go with the flow and see if the airline will let me board on an earlier flight once I get to the airport.

It was a nice surprise to get that extra call today. Totally unexpected!

I am glad you were able to talk to Ryan. Sorry Ryan wasnt feeling good. These poor guys are so worn down. Dustin said he got 10 hours of sleep lst night :) Dustin did call back and we talked for a while, like u said we have to go with the flow, things can change again before Friday.
If they're pumping them full of antibiotics, it's no wonder these guys are catching one thing after another. They're knocking out their immune systems with the antibiotics. One would think they'd figure that out, eh?  It seems mine has had one thing after another since he entered bootcamp, and yet has rarely ever been sick here on the outside. We have always been an antibiotic-free household.....this explains a whole lot. :-)
My son is also sick although said red bull and taco bell is a sure cure. He sounds sor relieved that BS is over.  Said that this next week will be mostly PT and Drilling.  Glad they were the first DIV to go through BS.

Good Morning Ladies,

I spoke to my son for an hour last night. Well not quite, there's four of us that get to speak to him  so maybe I spoke to him 15min. So much to say and ask. I never spoken so fast before. He's still sick with a fever and body aches, but hanging in there. He's excited for PIR Friday and that we are all going.  Well ladies 5 more days and we get to see our sons/daughters again.

Have a good day:)

It was wonderful to get that surprise phone call.

It is certainly time for a countdown! See you and our Sailors soon!

Sigh - now I am wondering if my son is still SIQ or if he is back at it - no way to know.  I am pretty sure he would be back at it - knowing him - but still, I wonder.

If he isn't, it is because his poor body needs the rest. I know Ryan said that he was SIQ for 2 days with the flu at one point. He also was planning to going into the sick bay today if he wasn't better. I asked why he hadn't gone yet and he said that if he had, he would not be on the phone with me at that time. (Saturday - already told you that.) Then I asked why he wouldn't go the next day (Sunday) and his response was, "Are you kidding me? I get 6 hours of free time on Sunday. Why would I want to waste it in SIQ?" I have to laugh at him. He said he would go today. On the good side. It appears that they have mostly out-processing to complete this week. Maybe things will be lighter on them. He also told me that their RDC basically did not believe in priviledge calls so that's why they pretty much only called at times when they were allotted. Maybe now they will get to call more often? He did say that they were supposed to be getting thier flight information on Tuesday. He also said that he probably would not be able to let me know until we saw him on Friday. Ugh.

Have a great Monday. (What an oxy-moron) Hmmm - maybe it really IS a good Monday since it is the last Monday before seeing our boys!!!!

Mumzie, I am sure that got him back up and running.  The worrying never stops.  My son also was sick with very sore throat.  He did not want to tell anyone because he was worried he would have been held back from completing BS.  Now that it is over, I hope he goes to SIQ to get some antibiotics.  Probably strept throat is the culprit.

Spoke with SW airlines but, not reassured until I am on that flight heading to GL.  If for some reason it is cancelled, we will be driving in.  About a 12hr drive but, would not miss it.  Not to mention, no way to tell Chris we wouldn't be there.  That would be awfull.

STRESS!!!!!

Well, one thing is for sure - I was stressed LAST week and my house shows it!  What a mess.  Plus, I decided to take air vent covers all down and bleach them - and got bleach on one of my favorite t-shirts - grr.  I guess it is now a paint and cleaning shirt.  Maybe having a favorite shirt to clean in will be inspiring!  And groceries - no food.  I just sat and waited.  I sure spin my wheels when I am stressed!

Nurse - I am sure they got him up and at it again - really surprised he actually went in!  Probably streph -he has had that before.  But wouldn't the penicillin keep that at bay?

What did southwest tell you? I am so worried and I looked at yesterday flight that would of been mine if it was Thursday and it was a cancelled flight. I almost want to book with another airlines. I am all the way in California and there is no way I am missing this. Like you said our poor recruits if we were not there.

Regdollrae- i sent my son a message on facebook just in case they are aloud to be back online to give flight info ect... It would be great if we got to talk to them again, but i doubt it :(

mumzipooh- I am sure hope your son got the meds and rest he needed and is getting back to normal again.

five, they said that the inspections should be completed by end of day tuesday.  She told me that we should get an email or some sort of contact if flight was cancelled.  If it is cancelled, they would put on next available flight.  Not sure when that would be.  I am going to sit tight and hope it is all settled.  I am fortunate that I could make it driving within a reasonable time. (12 hours) I am hoping that is not the case.

Mumzie, my house also looks like a giant mess.  In addition to graduation stuff I have had to go prom dress shopping which was pretty intense.

Penicillin is a broad spectrum antibiotic but, if it is viral, (which it probably is), there is not too much they can do except fluids and rest.  Plus there are a lot of resistant bugs out there.
