Hey Julie, Yeah, I was told the same thing.. We dont want them to stand out in any way..Keep it on the low down,,:)
Maybe just tell them Happy Birthday in a letter. I was told keep it white paper and white envelopes..So, thats what I'm doing..Damn, I like the cards that sing...Ha-Ha!!
My thought is have a cake and candles at home and send pics of his friends eating it... A huge sign in the back ground saying Happy birthday..
We have to be creative..
But, I miss my son..today was a hard day for me.. I cried watching a movie, I cried driving down the street, I cried about everything..I just miss him...
But, I will stand strong and I will be tough..
And with all of you , it will be easier....
Have a very nice evening....
Kelly
Hey,
My son left 3/29/2011 for boot camp. He was shipped out of Sacramento. So yes I am in the exact same situation as you are. Feeling pretty strange today. Packed up all his clothes (of course he was kind enough to leave me a whole basket of dirty laundry haha) and personal stuff today. Lots of emotions going on right now. But the main thing is I am very very proud :) Good luck!
We put together a survival guide. Please go to this group and click on the first Discussion which contains videos, power presentations, tips for navigating this site and links to other important sites for information.
Good luck to all
