It sounds like many of us are planning a trip this summer. I thought it may be fun and helpful to post dates and ideas here. Maybe if some of us will be there at the same time we can meet for a quick cup of coffee.

My son registered us at the Villas. I'm arriving 6/16 so he will go and register me that day and pick up the key. I really appreciate the pics of the room!  Whenever you are going, make sure you make your reservations ASAP because they fill up fast.

Since our son and his wife get leave when we come to visit we always rent a beach house at the Isle of Palms Wild Dune Resort.  It is wonderful since they get to " have a vacation", and so do we.  I have found a 3 bedroom house, one block from the beach for around a $1,000.  It has plently of space, with a screened in sun porch..it is decorated beautifully, and has a fully equipted kitchen.  The house has a deck with a grill, so we actually make most of meals at the house, which cuts down on the overall cost of the vacation.  We are leaving next week for our last trip, since Andrew has now finished prototype and we are awaiting his orders.  I plan on using vacation by owner ( website ) at the next base, as well, since it has been ideal while they were stationed in SC.

Here is a link to the company that we have used.  The prices are fair, and when you are a returning guest, you get a discount.  http://www.ccpsc.net/vacationrentals.htm

We will be heading down the first week in July. Diego should have a four day weekend then and we will be able to do a few things with him. He graduates A school on 03 June, but we aren't able to go at that time, the other K's are still in school until the third week in June. Kelsey will take many pictures I am sure.

They have a house on base, so that will save us hotel costs. We will fill their fridge and cupboards before we head back home as there will be extras with us. Can't leave them empty. Should be fun and we are looking forward to the visit!

Well if my son and his Fiancée get married right after she graduates H.S. then i will be out there at some point in June, for their marriage at the JP office.
Adding Red's Ice House as a recommended restaurant. Their website has photos and menus.
I'll be down there the 14th-19thish. I have orientation at Clemson the 13th-14th, so I figured I might as well drive the extra four hours to stay a few days with him. :) It helps that he has an apartment, so I won't have to worry about the expense of a hotel.
If anyone is going to be down there during those dates, let me know! I would love to get together with you!
Be sure to ask your sailor to visit the ITT office and pick up a Charleston map (nice and detailed AND has coupons!).  He/she can also buy tickets (I think discounted) for various attractions--our son got our tickets for Patriots Point and Ft. Sumter.  Even if they're not discounted, you won't have to stand in any long lines (if there are any) to buy tickets later.
Thanks for this info. I am driving down in just over a week to see my son in GC and with him still being in school I will have a lot of free time by myself. Maybe I can get him to buy us tickets to these two attractions!  My flight leaves on the morning of the 14th, so I will just miss seeing you Emily!
Bummer! I'll be in on the evening of the 14th.
I'm sure you'll have a good time though! :)
go to the tea plantation. I had a wonderful time there by myself. then I went to the winery close by. the wine was awful but the area was nice!
I will be there June 24th to ride with my son to NY.  Sort of a mini vacation for me.  I've never been up the Eastern Coast.  Not sure if I'm spending the night of the 24th in Charleston or leaving when my plane arrives at 1100.  Still waiting to see what time he detatches.
Emily, our Nuke starts power school on the 23rd.   We are driving and plan to arrive on Tues. the 14th.  and start back on Sat the 18th.  I would love to meet some of you wonderful ladies.
