Son leaving for BOOTCAMP 4-7-11...anyone else with the same start date?

My son is headed for Great Lakes on 4-7-11 ( or maybe he goes to MEPS first and from there to Boot).  He has been DEP since November 2010 and is anxious  to start basic.  After basic he is to go to Meridian, MS for "A" school.  Can anyone tell me if they get much liberty between basic and "A" school?

Hello Lujos Mom,

Well my son is leaving on April 11th and will be headed for the Great Lakes from my understanding, I am not sure what if any type of leave they have. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful but its nice to finally see that someone else has a child leaving around the same time. If you need someone to chat with please feel free.....I feel really lost and well somewhat confused, I have lots of questions and have no idea who I can turn to.

Hey srmom--My son leaves April 11 also!  We are down here in Alabama and probably as confused and nervous as you are.  My son is sooooo ready to leave.  I expect his PIR to be mid-June, but of course we have no concrete dates or plans.  We do have plans for spending a nice day with him on the 10th, though.  From what he tells me, I believe his A school is also Great Lakes.  Where are you?  Do you know your son's rating?
I'm not sure what it is, but that's the date he gave me. : / Well it's nice to know I'm not the only one looking for answers.
srmom here is a group for you to join to get info and to connect with other April DEPers http://www.navyformoms.com/group/leavinforbootcampinapril
My son leaves  for great lakes on 4/19/2011. His job rating is "IT". Goes to Pensacola for A school. From what I understand they dont find out until the latter part of bootcamp if they are grad and go or if they get weekend liberty after graduation. If he gets liberty he will have to be back on base before 8 or 9 pm each day.
My son is headed for Great Lakes on 4-5-11.  It's getting really close and I think I'm more nervous about it than he is.  He's been waiting 9 months so I think he's ready.  I guess his life has been put on hold long enough.  I'm sure going to miss him but I think he made the right choice about joining.  His friends have no direction with their lives right now and a few can't even find jobs with the economy being so bad.
My son sean leaves from Jacksonville Fl on the 6th.  I am so nervous and sad to see him go but I know he will do well and is making the best decision of his life     soproud
I will take Sean at noon to the recruiter for the beginning of his new adventure.  It is a day full of emotions

Sean called last night at midnight-sounded tired and stresses-I was able to see him sworn in and it was so great.  I hope he is ok today.  He arrived on the 6th so today his first real day.  He is on my mind

I cant wait to hear all about it either-so in the dark right now and it would be nice if they were together.  i am sure by now they are super tired-guess the box comes next!!
My son phoned me from St. Louis, Mo airport, at about 12:45 PM today; to say he was waiting on a flight to Chicago (with 3 other recruits)...and once they arrive in Chicago they are to go to the USO area (at the airport) and meet-up with other in-coming recruits and then take a bus from Chicago's airport to Great Lakes.  He sounded very good and he is excited to get this new adventure started!  He said he'd phone me later tonight with the"scripted" phone call that let's us know he has arrived at Boot safely.  Has anyone had problems trying to "suspend" their sons cell phone service (for the 2 months they are gone)?  My sons cell phone provider told us that they needed a copy of his navy contract in order to suspend service.  Anyone with any advice would be appreciated.
