OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

my son is on ship 3 div 149. have no ideai how any of this works. just received his address from recruiter yesterday. sent all my letters to him this am. not sure when his PIR is? Guess I'm waiting on the Offical ltr. ???

I got a letter this morning that was very positive. He said that they're pulling together more, since the bad time they had at Marlinspike. B said they've done very well on inspections and the PFA. This week is to include live fire, drill inspection, academic testing, hair cuts, and pictures. I for one can't wait to see the picture! They got their dress blues. He said they're heavy, hot, and itchy. Wool. But he loves the uniforms. He's been very excited to get all the pieces of the uniforms.
Let's keep the division in our prayers, that they act as a team, and pass all their tests and inspections.

Thanks for the positive info Chimelle! I am going to look up Marlinspike. First I've heard about it. I cannot wait to see R in his uniform either. Wool! Not R's favorite. Mine either. Don't they get their white ones soon?

They'll have them but can't wear them until after graduation. I'm terribly allergic to wool-big red, itchy hive when I touch it. But I'm not letting that get in the way of hugging B at PIR! I'm packing benadryl. lol

Amen R's Proudmom! It is so hard, isn't it? We want to be there so badly for them - yet we can't- I just keep writing encouraging letters and telling him how proud I am of him and his fellow SR's. My Navy Friend - who gave me this advice was deployed on April 1st - I believe him to be on the USS Bataan- headed towards harms way. Please pray for him- and the others on the ship for God's protection.
one last thing he told me , is it is the RDC's job to have them succeed. It is their job to make all the SR's HATE them so they work together to stop that RDC from yelling at them. That builds cohesivness...He said if you have a bunch of superstars running around, getting in each others way, it doesn't work---They will tell them they are the worst froup they have ever seen! SO- not to worry no matter how depressed he is, he is fine.

You are right, you do want to be there. R sounded so sick on the phone. I kept thinking...how is he going to get better without me to force the meds. Silly, I know. Then in his letter, he hoped that they went to gas chamber this week so he could get cleaned out! What in the world. I can;t wait to sit down and talk to him. I am gonna take your word and know that he is fine! You have helped a lot. And yes I will pray for your friend and every US Sailor on the USS Bataan.

Thought I'd pop in and say hello. My son is 3/149 too. I just found this website...wishing I'd heard about it sooner ;-) Great info. Haven't had a phone call from him since last Saturday. The letter I got from him this week said he thought he would get a call on FRiday, but that didn't happen. Hope they didn't loose phone time for an infraction!
Anyway, thought I'd say hi. I'll keep watching to see if any others from this group get any info from their SR.
BTW...TXMom17 ~ we're a Texas family too! (east texas)

Been hoping for a call all wekend since we didn't get one again this Sat. His letter on Wed. said that things were getting better and they should get more privelages. Wonder too what's going on? 19 days to go!!!!

I am related to a guy in Div. 149. We had one letter from him almost 2 weeks ago. He started on a hatred rant towards a person in his family. This was the entire letter! Do they allow them to work through situations that have given them stress? We had no idea his hatred was this strong. I am really concerned about him. I read these posts every day to see what everyone is saying. Needless to say, we are not invited to the PIR. I found a phone number to hopefully get photos of him. Thanks to all of you for keeping us up to date about his division. It is so appreciated. God Bless each of you.

psquare, I'm so sorry that your family is in this situation. They have chaplains available for the guys to talk to if they're willing to go. There are regular chaplains as well as a recruit chaplain in their division. If your relative has opened up to someone I'm sure they would help him through his problem. I do know that they all sat down and worked out issues within the division to help them work as a team. Hopefully he's found someone to talk with. Realize they're all coming from different places and situations and learning to rely on each other. I'm sure some have more issues to deal with than others but the guys are all in this together. If there's something we can do to help you get through this just let us know. Everyone here is very supportive. Praying for your family.

Oh, thank you so much for your encouraging words. He is young and has so much going for him. I know the Military was an excellent choice. I tend to think he had issues with discipline as he is still at the "know it all" stage in life. LOL! Everyone keeps telling us how changed he will be! I am so excited for him. I feel like this will be a great career for him. I just hope he lets go of his anger towards others. I pray that for him. He grew up in church, so I hope he will see out the chaplains. I feel like a part of his Navy life by reading these comments and I worry and lift them all up as if they were mine.

Hi psquare, My son is in this division and if the people in this division are anything like the people on this site he will have a lot of friends and everyone will be very supportive and helpful. I think your relative is in the best possible place for him right now. We wish him and the division great success! If there is anything we can do to help, we are here for you too!
