I know who she is! My daughter mentioned her in her first letter!! She said they are really good friends, they bunk near each other! My daughter said your wife and a few of the other gals who bunk int hat area kind of stick together through the tough stuff. Holy cow, that's WONDERFUL!!!

Fred, I just wrote to Ashley and told her we met. My daughter had her teeth pulled too and she too felt it was the worst part of boot camp so far. It makes it easier on my and her dad knowing she has good friends in there. It sounds like they really stick together and pull one another through... I am so looking forward to meeting you too!

Did you and Anna move here from Russia?

Where is she going for A School? And for what??  My daughter is going to Texas for MA.

Cheryl

Either stay at Great Lakes,IL or go to San Antonio, TX  she said they will let them know 3 - 5 days before graduation.  Her rate is corpsman.

I am new to all this "Navy" lingo but what is and/or does corpsman do?

Hospital Corpsman work in the medical field.  I don't know what MA is either....lol

MA is master of Arms. Basically military police. She really wants to get into the K-9 unit but from what I understand its very hard to get into.

You have to be referred from a commanding officer I guess??!!

Cheryl, that was Ashley's 2nd choice!

With my husband being a cop and all, I would have picked that one first LOL... she wanted to do the cryptology though, but was ready to take MA as a backup.

Oh thats cool!!  My daughter really surprised me with her choice!! She actually tested high enough for intelligence but they told her there was a waiting list for that so she chose MA! What does cryptology do?
My daughter will be going to Dam Neck,VA for A school.. she is IS (Intelligence Specialist)  Tho I just heard they (Navy) are 125% over maxed on IS right now.  Not sure what that means, so we'll see! :)
I know they are maxed out for IS because when my daughter took her asvab she tested for that but they said there was a waiting list to get into that. Thats why she went with MA. She didnt want to wait.
wow.. then my SR got that rate just in time.  She enlisted in June 2010.  I don't know what that means, if she'll keep her rate or not.... We'll have to see!
