********BATTLESTATIONS******
This is the final test for your SRs. They will be tested on all that they have learned and any situations they might encounter when deployed on a ship. It is a 12-hour overnight drill. They go to the Disney-created USS Trayer ship (very realistic!) in the evening and finish up with their capping ceremony the next morning. There they trade their Recruit caps for their Sailor caps...and they are then SAILORS! Later that afternoon, the ladies on here will get the much-anticipated "I'm a Sailor" call. Teamwork is the name of the game. They are divided into smaller groups to go through BattleStations and are evaluated as a team as well as individuals. This is what a chief said about BattleStations: 150-300 SRs go through a night, 3-10 of those may fail and be given another opportunity to go through before PIR, teamwork is the key, and if all SRs keep their mouths shut, listen and focus, and work as a team...they should pass.
The divisions will go through with their brother divisions. Up to 4 divisions can go through a night, sometimes just 2 or 3 go. If a 900 division or 800 division tags on to 2 brother divisions, that would be 3 divisions going through. They start with the lowest numbered divisions going through first and move up. 800 and 900 divisions are random, or if they happen to have a 800 or 900 brother division (rare), they go with them. They can start on Wed (although rare) or Thur nights a week before PIR. They do not do them on Fri or Sat nights because of Captains Cup on Saturday--a fun athletic competition for all divisions in the PIR group. They then can resume BattleStations Sun-Wed nights, but may not need all of those nights depending on the size of the PIR group. If an SR has to repeat BattleStations, he/she will go with another division's group. Or if an SR has not passed all tests prior to his/her division's BattleStations night, he/she will continue taking that test until he/she passes and then join another division for BattleStations. Some can even go as late as Thurs night before PIR, with the divisions from the next PIR group. They then will be at PIR in uniform as a new sailor, but in the balcony, too tired to march after being up all night.
The "I'm as Sailor" calls usually start around 2 pm GL time and go into the early evening, but they can start earlier. So we advise all to have phones very close by that day...even when in the bathroom or checking the mail. Hopefully bosses will be understanding on the "I'm a Sailor" call day! When you hear from your sailor, ask if all in his/her division passed and post on the board for others to see. Some may not receive their phone call that day...because their SR may have watch...and would like to read this info.

J'smom: That's what I've been thinking too...makes no sense as I've never seen a BS happen on a Tuesday since I've been on this site. I think Sunday will be 143-146 and Monday will be 147,148, and 923.
Only thing I questioned was maybe they are understaffed with holiday week-weekend...I dunno...just my thought...I'm keeping my phone close regardless!

I would just hate for our SRs not to have a chance to PIR with the group cause they had to redo on Thursday.
By the way do you know if our divisions took their last PFA? I am anxious about the run. From a letter I got yesterday they were suppose to have on Thurs but another mom said hers said it was Wed. I did not get a call either day so feeling better but there is always a chance they did not do it yet. -

Ok, ladies. To set the record straight...yes, they do BattleStations on Tuesdays sometimes. Believe it or not, they used to do them on Wednesdays for a long time....with the call coming in the day before PIR! Haven't seen that in a while, but here's the deal. If anyone in the last divisions of the PIR group fails (most pass, if not all), then they would have to go with the next PIR group's Battlestations. This is usually on Thurs night before your PIR. So that person would then be a sailor and at PIR, but in the balcony since your sailor has been up all night. But think positively...they're going to pass! I have been told that if someone in the next-to-last group fails, they sleep that afternoon and go that night again with their own PIR group---with the last divisions going through.
J'sMom/jennieo: They can always change the dates...but a lower-numbered division will never go before a higher-numbered one...and they still will go with their brother division. If they moved 923 up to Sunday night, then 147 and 148 can join 145 and 146 on Monday night and be done. Or, like jennieo said, if 143-146 go Sunday and 147-148, 923 go Monday. But haven't heard they will do that. Sometimes it has to do with where the divisions are in their final training before PIR. If any phone calls come in over the weekend with confirmation of dates above or changes, please post!

Also, J'sMom: They will not call you if they pass the PFA. Only if they fail it. So this is a time that you don't want a call! If they fail it, they get more chances to try and will then call you if they make it to let you know they are headed into BattleStations...and you can hurry on up to GL!
This just happened in the 4/15 group. A lady named Candy-O. Such a sweet lady. Lives in NewportNews VA. Her son failed the run...last week. He has had several chances to pass it after that. Thurs morning (or day before PIR) is always the last chance to pass in order to attend PIR. She had just posted late yesterday morning that she wouldn't see everyone because her son had not called...so therefore she knew he had not passed. A few seconds later, he called her! He had passed! He did BattleStations last night with the next PIR group and I'm sure was one sleepy sailor at PIR today. Had he not passed yesterday, he would still be allowed to try for a few more weeks. If he passed the run/BattleStations then, he would have headed straight to A School (no PIR). I'm not sure how long they are given to pass it, but if they don't, they are discharged. But I have heard many happy stories of those held who finally pass. One girl was held for 3 weeks, but is now a sailor and either still in school or stationed.,

I knew that no call was a good thing just wanted to get another person to confirm that the PFA had happened. I knew he was having problems but that his bunkmate was pushing him and he was getting lots of help. I prayed all day yesterday that I would not get a call! So since I did not I am more confident that he passed and even sent him a letter of congratulations today. Can't wait to see him next Friday. I am sure that he and the division will do fine in Battlestations just hate waiting.
