OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

********BATTLESTATIONS******
This is the final test for your SRs. They will be tested on all that they have learned and any situations they might encounter when deployed on a ship. It is a 12-hour overnight drill. They go to the Disney-created USS Trayer ship (very realistic!) in the evening and finish up with their capping ceremony the next morning. There they trade their Recruit caps for their Sailor caps...and they are then SAILORS! Later that afternoon, the ladies on here will get the much-anticipated "I'm a Sailor" call. Teamwork is the name of the game. They are divided into smaller groups to go through BattleStations and are evaluated as a team as well as individuals. This is what a chief said about BattleStations: 150-300 SRs go through a night, 3-10 of those may fail and be given another opportunity to go through before PIR, teamwork is the key, and if all SRs keep their mouths shut, listen and focus, and work as a team...they should pass.
The divisions will go through with their brother divisions. Up to 4 divisions can go through a night, sometimes just 2 or 3 go. If a 900 division or 800 division tags on to 2 brother divisions, that would be 3 divisions going through. They start with the lowest numbered divisions going through first and move up. 800 and 900 divisions are random, or if they happen to have a 800 or 900 brother division (rare), they go with them. They can start on Wed (although rare) or Thur nights a week before PIR. They do not do them on Fri or Sat nights because of Captains Cup on Saturday--a fun athletic competition for all divisions in the PIR group. They then can resume BattleStations Sun-Wed nights, but may not need all of those nights depending on the size of the PIR group. If an SR has to repeat BattleStations, he/she will go with another division's group. Or if an SR has not passed all tests prior to his/her division's BattleStations night, he/she will continue taking that test until he/she passes and then join another division for BattleStations. Some can even go as late as Thurs night before PIR, with the divisions from the next PIR group. They then will be at PIR in uniform as a new sailor, but in the balcony, too tired to march after being up all night.
The "I'm as Sailor" calls usually start around 2 pm GL time and go into the early evening, but they can start earlier. So we advise all to have phones very close by that day...even when in the bathroom or checking the mail. Hopefully bosses will be understanding on the "I'm a Sailor" call day! When you hear from your sailor, ask if all in his/her division passed and post on the board for others to see. Some may not receive their phone call that day...because their SR may have watch...and would like to read this info.

Thanks so much, Lonna, for confirming 147's date. We have it correct on the schedule then! Your daughter will be thrilled after BattleStations because she gets to finally get....candy! So it won't be long now before she is a sailor happily eating her skittles!

This was posted on the FB Navy wall an hour ago....
"My daughter just called me for some info for her security clearance and told me that Battlestations for Div 923 is on Monday (4/18) instead of Sunday. So we should receive our "I'm a sailor call" on Tuesday! Go Baby Girl !!"

The same mom who was notified by a letter received on Tuesday got a letter today who said that 923's BS has been moved to Monday night. Thanks Diannep!

Ok so my husband has told me no specific dates for battlestations (div 145). However, I just saw on the pir discussion group on facebook that someone who has a husband in div 146 that it would be on Sunday night...either way its fine though I am really hoping that it is on Sunday because Tuesday I will be traveling all day! I don't know which it is but I thought I would let you guys know!

MirrorMaiden: 2 people have said they were told that 145/146 go on Monday night so that is why it is like that on the schedule. Numerically, they could go on Sunday too...so I guess we will just have to see. Maybe be ready for calls on Monday or Tuesday!

I was looking back at the last two PIRs and they did 4divisions each night Thurs, Sun, Monday. Any chance of them changing the dates for this training group? If the last divisions have failures there are not chances for them to do over and march at PIR on the 22nd.
