Thank you, GRF230dad. That is how I understand it also. So I will get to see both sons and am greatly relieved but sad I can't spend more time with the grad.
quidam, I feel your pain, we are in the same boat. Our youngest graduates college on Saturday so are only able to be in Great Lakes Wednesday to Friday morning.  We'll just have to make the best of our time together on Thursday.
Starting on the 3rd full week since our son shipped (Ship-11 Div-181) to RTC. Still waiting for that first letter. I know that "no news, is good news" but come on already... LOL

I haven't gotten a letter either. Yes, come on already! It is painful.

Me neither....hope they haven't been bad boys and girls....waiting is hard
No letter or cal yet for us. Let's hope they got a chance to write this past Sunday.
Got a 5 min. phone call from my son (ship-11 div-181) yesterday, so good to hear his voice. He sounded happy and said things are going great. It was the best birthday gift I could have asked for. So proud!!!

Happy Birthday CRF!  Glad to hear things are going great for your son!

Yesterday I finally got a call!! He was supposed to get 30 mins instead of 10 because he held the door open for a Petty Officer. He says it is all about paying attention to detail. (Seems like I said that a few times during his childhood.....) He said a letter is on its way also.
feels so good to hear their voices doesnt it? we're halfway there!
I got about 15 seconds to hear my daughter's voice.  I missed her first call and she had to get off the phone right away after calling and reaching me on her second try. (I was at work)  She spoke to her dad for a few minutes but said she really wanted to talk with me. My husband told her to wait 20 minutes and try me again (can you believe that!!! he's not been on the N4M or navy dad sites or else he would've known the SR's get precious little time for calls)  She got very emotional and I had only enough time to say "hang in there".  My heart was crushed and I'm barely getting over this missed opportunity.  I wrote to her today and can only hope she stays strong. I, however, am a complete wreck.
Dont worry joan, I know for us that is heartbreaking and we feel responsible and guilty...but on her side, she is ok, safe, and surrounded by her peers. They are maturing more than we know. My son said he was sorry he'd only written 2 letters but was just so busy all the time. It's just so intense that we just wonder and worry as mothers, but in just a few weeks we'll be with them...she's safe, please don't feel bad, she'll call again. Our kids are going to be Sailors! Bootcamp is short, hard, but will be over soon. Barb
