My son is in Ship 09 Div 189.  Have you heard anything from your son?
Hello mamasea, My daughter is on Ship09/Div 189 I haven't heard anything..I'm still waiting on her letter..I rec'd her box...
I rec'd my daughter form letter on Monday what a relief she says she is fine, the food sucks and its cold she is so spoiled to Texas weather. But I'm really glad she is doing fine she's a strong young lady with a pint size body..See ya'll in June
Hi mamasea!  The only thing I have received, from my son, is the form letter (with graduation info) and a few short words that he was able to write at the bottom of the form letter!  He wrote that things were "good" at Great Lakes but that he misses us...and for us to be sure to bring him underwear (boxers) from home when we come-up for graduation.  I guess he's not crazy about the underwear he was issued at Great Lakes!  I'll let you know if he calls or sends a "real" letter...which I know he will do whenever he gets the chance!  I've certainly sent him lots of letters and I imagine he'll get all of them at once...if it's true that they don't receive mail for a couple of weeks!  I wonder if out boys know each other?  I bet they do!  Are you planning on going to graduation?  We live in Illinois and we are only about a 4 hour drive south of Great Lakes!  We've made reservations at the Comfort Inn, in Waukegan, IL, which is $69 per night with the Navy graduation discount.  Let me know if you hear anything from your son please.
My son did get to call yesterday but he called (of course) his wife.  He needed information for his security clearance.  He is homesick of course and said he would write as much as he could. I am hoping to be at graduation but we are 17 hours away in NC. I hope that they make the June 3rd date because the following weekend I have to be in Memphis for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. I'm a little stressed about this situation because both of these events are equally important to me since my Mom has been sick and don't know how much time is left with her in this life.  He said he is the cadence guy not sure what the title is so I'm sure he is glad about that.  He has a cold and they are being really tough on them but he was sticking it out no matter what.  He has a family (wife and 3 year old son) so that is making him real home sick but he knows he needs to do this to make a life for his family.  I'll let you know once we have booked our hotels, etc.

Got form letter today. Very little personal from my son but still nice to see his handwriting.  Unfortunately most to his wife.

My son called yesterday but he had called his wife.  I think the only reason he got to call is to get her to send in information they needed for his security clearance.  I think that she was glad to hear his voice but at the same time she said he was a little down because he has a cold and he is homesick. (lovesick) He said he didn't care he was going to get through the next 6 weeks no matter what!  He hasn't gotten any of the letters that we have sent so hopefully he will get them this week.

Hi Jessica I got a letter from my daughter yesterday , She is with Ship 9 Div 189 have not a call yet but was very happy to get the letter .. She seems to be doing fine.

Btw My name is Eileen

Hi Eileen!  My son is Ship 9 Div 189!  We have not received a letter or a phone call yet...but I check the mailbox every day in hopes that there will be a letter!  I am so hoping that maybe tomorrow, with it being Easter, that we might get a phone call!  I am so anxious to hear how my son is doing?  Did your daughter give you any details, in her letter, regarding how boot camp is going...within her division?  Since my son is also in her division...maybe you could give me some insight?  Happy Easter!

My husband is also with Ship 9 Div 189.  I have received 2 letters so far, but I have NOT received the form letter yet... hmmmm....  But he is not enjoying it at all. He said they are not to the "fun" part yet.  He was talking to some guys that were about half way through while they were in the restroom (the head) and they said this next week things should change and get fun.He also said they haven't even hit 1-1 day yet and that was as of the 15th.  I hope they will still be able to graduate June 3rd!  I can't wait to hear from him again... I hope things will sound a little better.  He is not one to complain so it sort of worries me when he does.  He also said that he really likes his RDC but he is in charge of the females and the males have to go with DIV 190 because their RDCs are in charge of the males.  The last thing he said was, "the food is good here, except for the beef taco casserole."  Haha it make me laugh.  He really misses home but will make it through just fine!

I too am REALLY hoping for a phone call tomorrow! I don't want to get my hopes up, but I just can't help it! I really want to tell him to make sure he orders pictures during week 4 so he doesn't miss out.  He tends to not really think of the small things! I miss him so much and can't wait to be back with him again!

My husband is a nuke... what is your son?

Happy Easter!

Hi Brettany!  It's GREAT that you've received 2 letters...I'm envious!  I still haven't heard a thing, from my son, and I'm hoping tomorrow maybe we'll receive a letter!  My son is going to A-school in Meridian, MS for Logistics Specialist.  It's 6:40 PM, on Easter, and I've had my phone by my side all day long...so hoping that maybe he'd be able to call today:  So far no call!  My son is my only child and I miss him so terribly much and think of him constantly!  I'm really anxious for June 3 to arrive!  Are you planning on going to graduation?  Happy Easter to you too!

I am glad to have received two, but I can't wait for them to start being happy letters... or at least happier than they have been.  Its only 4:45 here... and still no call either... I hope we get to hear from them tonight! That sure would make my day! You would think I'd be use to this... My two little brothers are Army and my older brother is Air Force.... but my husband is completely different.  I am 22 and being alone is no where near easy. I can't wait for June 3 either!! And yes I am planning on going. You? This is the toughest thing we have ever been through.  We have been together for 3 years, married for just over 7 months.  The Navy came to mind a year ago over casual conversation when I said I'd support him if the military was ever something he wanted to do... with a bit more talking, we decided to do it.  (And I say we, because we are a team and it is a life that we BOTH have to live... know what I mean?)  If you are going, where do you plan on staying? I've hear some good things about a few places, and a lot of people seems to like the Navy Lodge... still no reservations in any where though.

Happy Easter to you too! I hope you have a good one, even though your sailor is not with you!
