ok thanks i see it now! I will try to make it, are a lot of people staying there also? I'm driving (10 hours) from NY with my SRs mom, dad and sister, but I don't think we have booked a place to stay yet.

Got two letters today!! FINALLY! He said that things are starting to get better and he loves getting mail, he got 10 letters from me all at once! (haha) He said that it has been hard to find time to write but he was currently writing under the glow of red lights in his rack. He said that his days are hectic beyond belief. He said after he got there it literally took him a week and a half to genuinely smile again : (

He said the one recruit that he has become good friends with only got one letter of bad news, telling him how his brother is in the hospital with a shattered arm, and he has been quite down about it. He asked me to write him a letter, just saying something, anything at all would make his day! So I am going to of course!

He said they got issued for dog tags and he now "feels a bit more military" -- His days usually consist of waking up between 4:30-6am, where they have 5 minutes to brush their teeth, shave their faces, and that 5 minutes gets a bit tough when you have to 'fight' for sink space. After that they have about 10 minutes to put on their uniform properly, get their barracks "on spot" with dusting and sweeping and other such stuff. Basically everything has to be IMMACULATE. After that they head downstairs as a division for "chow", as apparently there's no such thing as breakfast, lunch, or dinner - only "chow". He said the food isn't half bad but "I tend not to eat a lot as my body isn't used to eating 3 meals a day yet, but I've been eating healthy at least, you'd be so proud of me!" -- (I always bugged him about eating so bad and unhealthy haha)

He said "this place never slows down enough for me to take a break. But I'll keep on going til its DONE!"

Ahh I am a happy girl to finally hear from him and I thought I'd share some stuff he wrote with you all! Hope all is going well today and all your SRs are kicking butt in 11/180! : )

I got letters too. He sounds great. Said some SRs were bringing them down not doing what they are told to do. He said he is trying to keep his mouth shut and do what he is told, He said one time he was confussed about how to do something and got blessed out and had to do pushups. He said now he wished he had listened to us and worked out more in the last mths. He said he was sorry for everything he put us through and he knows now we were right and he needs us and always did! It was great to hear he said he is going to come out a man we can be proud of! Gosh I love that Boy!
Hi ladies just wondering, Brandon said some other guys were going to church too and doing bible study at night. I just wondered who they were. Not that is matters It would just be nice to know. Cuz seems like that would be who he is closest with. Just want to know who his friends are, (the nosey mom i am!) who he is connecting with. I would love to make sure I have talke to there loved one. Just wonderin......
what kind of church do they go to? My bf does go to church, I don't know if he is going while he is there but I'll ask and see!

...the one with the donuts!

Sorry, just need something to laugh about. That's pretty pathetic though...

I wonder if they still do donuts! I saw it on "Top Ten Lines Home from Boot Camp". A SR gave this answer when asked which church he was going too. We "do" donuts at our home church (high schoolers handle it), so I told him to go there!

He never misses at home but has not gone yet at BC. He's got a cold and I could not make out exactly why. They do see the Chaplains somewhat during certain parts of training.

If you go to the RTC (Recruit Training Command) site, you can find out the services offered and all about PIR, etc. You can even download theTraineeGuide  that the Recruits use in BC ! Here is the link to RTC: http://www1.netc.navy.mil/nstc/rtcgl/

I would be very surprised if it was my son that was going with him. Unless he found a new faith after going thru P days :)  But he might still be friends with Brandon, I am not sure yet. Maybe I'll find out more when I get a letter or a long call. He is the kind to keep to himself a bit more though. I did tell him one of the most important things he could do there was help out his shipmates, so hopefully he is one of the helpers and not one of the backtalkers. lol. because I could totally see him doing that too if the pressure got high!
Julie, are you on the Facebook discussion page?  I am praying you get that long deserved call soon.  I have been hoping my son is not one of the division trouble causers and I don't think so, but he can get frustrated.  I think he's smart enough to be a team player.
Dad got a letter yesterday from our SR. Good thing is, he "loves boot camp" and is NOT one of the troublemakers. Yay! Bad thing is, he is one of the guys that is supposed to make sure that some of the other SRs get their act together :(  Hence, his "some people don't belong here" comment. For all of their sakes I hope the other ones get with the program soon!
I believe that is my son too, but until I know for sure how he's responding to the pressures, I worried.  Which, by the way is the mixed blessing of the phone call.  It was so great to hear his voice, but he did sound tired, sick and a little sad.  This gave me something NEW to worry about that I did not have before the call.  Still, I know as a Mom of 3 you want nothing more than to talk to him and give him that unconditional love and support we all do.  I asked about FB because there is a Julie on the 11/180 discussion and I wondered if that is you.  Happy Easter!
Thank you Julie.  I look forward to meeting you at PIR.  I mentioned your last name to my son in my last letter.  He said he had a good bud in 11/180 who is also going to IS at Dam Neck.  Would't that be a hoot if they are the 2 friends?  I know only 2% go in to IS, so I guess it is entirely possible.  Congratulations to your son on his upcoming wedding.  Enjoy your Easter and God Bless you and yours and the entire 11/180 today and as they go through these challenging times.
Just wondering if anyone has received a phone call from their SR today?  It's been a while since I have talked to mine and I was hoping I would get a phone call today.
