For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Questions on Carl Vinson Homecoming?
I have never been to CA and will be coming across the country for the Homecoming. Can anyone help with what time we should arrive at the dock and if we need to get some type of passes? If anyone has any suggestions on places to stay while there, that would also be very helpful.

a little something called OPSEC! Goes ask those questions to the ombudsman of the command. Unless it is in the news, than do NOT put this infomraiton out there.
I have seen people say things they shouldn't and ships stayed out at sea longer due to it!

go to this group http://www.navyformoms.com/group/usscarlvinsonfamily click on +join and then click on SEND MESSAGE TO GROUP and ask your question...someone will give you the answer...or like Angie said call the Ombudsman of the ship. Never post specific info about a ships movements on a public site before the Navy makes it public...once the Navy has posted the info then it is fine.
It is okay to private message info between each other as well but you have to be friends with the other person to do that.
You can ask about the hotels on the group comment wall
