I was fortunate to receive a few phone calls since he arrived at BC, mostly due to the fact that he needed information for security clearance.  I was able to talk for about 15 minutes.  It was so nice to hear his voice.  He called last week to let me know that the graduation date changed, that was a 17 sec call.  I asked him if he was o.k. and he said no and I gotta go.  So of course my mind starts thinking of the worse.  I guess no news is good news at this point.  All I can do is pray that he stays strong.
Julie good luck on your out of town trip.  If he gets more than one call, maybe he can call your cell phone because, Mom, you deserve a call.  Take care
We will all buy you a drink at meet and greet.  I fear you win the contest for longest time, no call.  Maybe you will see your boy on the RTC photos page tomorrow am.  They say they have photos of our division (180).

Julie, try not to feel too bad about not hearing from him yet. My son managed to send his dad a letter but not me and I'm the one that sent self-addressed stamped envelopes (dad and I live in different states). I just sent him a questionaire so that MAYBE he would fill it out quick and send it. I also know that my son doesn't like to tell me things cuz it makes me worry about him. He is trying to protect my feelings :)  FYI...yes, the letter to dad talked about the trouble he was having, so I can understand why he might not want to tell me.Maybe yours feels the same way or thinks that you might be working when he calls and you won't be able to answer it. Could be lots of things. Don't let it get you down!!

Just remember that they are all veeerrry busy all the time. There is always something that is never quite good enough and has to be practiced or studied :(  They just go day by day, trying to get through it.

Heidi, I got the same response from my son and I worried....what does this mean?  Is he going to make it?  I think it's a natural reaction to the stress and difficulty of the first weeks of bootcamp.  Plus, my son was sick and your son/husband may be too.  Also, I heard the RDC was literally right next to the SRs while they called so they could not say much.  No news IS good news.  Did you know our division of 88 is down to 55?  Our guys are still there or we would have heard.  Go to the facebook discussion for 11/180 and post there too.  I hear RTC tells the recruits about our discussion groups so maybe they will be encouraged.  We have SPIRIT in 11/180.  Take care.

Hi Laurel, I received an early morning wake up call from my son this morning.  I was in tears I was so happy.  He needed additional information for his security clearance and was able to call.  We we were able to talk for a while.  He sounds good, but did tell me he was pretty sick and almost passed out during PT.  He's on med's and said he feels much better. He also said things are getting easier, it could be that he is adjusting to the routine.  He doesn't get much sleep and all the guys watch out for each other, which is comforting.  I didn't know our division was down to 55.  I'm so glad our guys are still there.  I'll definitely go to the facebook discussion and post there too.

Thanks and take care!

Hi Chicks! Praying this week will be great for our SR'sthe letter I got from B this past sat dated April 18th said that this week they were doing Guns, firefighting and PF Test #2. Wonder when they do the Gas Chamber?? That worries me. I know B will love the firefighting and the guns, the gas mask...not so much!
where is everyone staying I had already made reservations but I am changeing them because it is just me and my hubby now. I would love to be where some of you all are! I was thinking the Ramada then we would be right there for the M & G.
Thanks Goodness Heidi.  My son has been sick too and I have heard most of them were sick at one point.  They are hanging in there as this is week 4 for our guys I believe.  If they are doing firefighting and weapons, they are getting along in the training.  One of the guys I work with is retired AF.  He said the RDCs have moved along everyone who is not likely to make it at this point.  I sure hope so!

Hi to all you proud mamas/gf/etc.. I'm new to this! How do I go about getting on the Facebook discussion page? I do have Facebook, but I'm pretty much a "dummy".

I have had one phone call (thank you lord) and one letter so far. He said it is very tough, but he is hanging in there. He said the food was surprising good, but 3 heavy meals a day...which he isn't use to.

I love having this support and information. Where are people staying. We have out airline revs, but haven't booked a hotel yet.

Welcome Janh.  This site has been a savior for me.  Re:  rooms, I think Dani (OMG) and her hubby may stay at the Ramada and we are staying at the Spring Hill Suites Waukegan.  As far as facebook, exciting news!  RTC says they have random photos of our division, 180.  http://www.facebook.com/NavyRecruitTrainingCommand for the main page.  For the 11/180 discussion group, please go to http://www.facebook.com/NavyRecruitTrainingCommand#!/topic.php?uid=.... RTC lets the recruits know about what is posted on the RTC facebook page and we want to encourage them.  My son reports similar things.  Food good, been sick, it's tough, hanging in.  Looking forward to seeing you around the discussions.  We are a passionate group about our SRs, I can tell you :)
the pics are up on FB!! Great pic of the 180 in a class room! I see B on the front row the last one closest to the wall! Lots of smiles! VERY GREAT pic!
