My boyfriend and I have been together for over a year and his father and I have a non existent relationship. I live with his mother and things between her and I are great. (His parents are obviously divorced) He doesn't see eye to eye with his father either, so that is a benefit for us. We live in another state and just try to keep our distance. It is an extreme challenge at times for our relationship because his father and I don't agree on anything, but we love each other so much that it's never mattered in the end. Because his mom and I live together, the information comes here for all of his boot camp details. You can make it work. Your relationship with him is separate from his parents. He is the one who decides who will be one the list for PIR so you won't have to worry about not being chosen by his parents for that. If he loves you enough to marry you, he'll definatly keep you in the loop. And who knows, maybe he'll decide to have his info addressed to you instead. That would be perfect. Good luck, hope that helps.
Ha this made me laugh! I was just talking with one of my girl friends about how my husbands mom hates me. Back when we were engaged and he was deployed, I was worried as well because I knew that if something bad happened to him, that she would never tell me. Luckily now we're married, so I don't have to worry about that anymore.
But honestly, its bootcamp, not a deployment. Nothing that bad can possibly happen. Trust me. There's no way the Navy wants to deal with that! And as for keeping you up to date, your boyfriend decides who he wants to call and send letters to. And if he wants you at PIR, you better hope that he stands his ground with his family. Because if he doesn't, and she's anything like my wicked mother-in-law, you might not be able to go.
However, when you meet his family, be as sweet as pie. That way if they act out of line (which mine did at our wedding), you look like the sweet one just trying to keep the peace, and they look like the fools. Hope things get easier for you.
I believe that your fiance will definitely be keeping you in the loop with what is going on.
I see that you have mentioned that your fiance will be leaving in June? I invite you to come and join the "DEP - Leavin for bootcamp in June" group. There are a lot of wonderful and supportive women in the group. :-)
