Okay...I have NOT received any letters at all! I sent a questionairre(w/SASE), a letter, and another letter w/ a paper to fill out with names of any recruits that would like to get mail(w?SASE). It's getting a little late in the game though.

Trying REAL hard not to get annoyed...but it is difficult. I go from annoyed, then I stop it, then I get worried and round and round!

I've been putting jokes and word searches and cartoons on the back. Hope that didn't get him in trouble. The cartoons were in color. I switched to black and white.

I'm kinda enjoying the old fashioned snail mail...I just want some back!

I am REALLY glad for all of you getting mail and calls. I also really appreciate you sharing information.

We got a call from our SR this morning. He sounded very upbeat but he has pneumonia. I guess a few of the guys are sick, but don't want to go to sick bay because they don't want to miss anything. They put my SR on antibiotics and he doesn't have to do any PT for the next two days. He does get to participate in everything else though. I guess he finally got sick enough that he had to get it checked out. Thank goodness.

He sounded very upbeat (considering feeling awful). He said things are getting easier. He was really surprised that we got to see a picture of the classroom and we're all communicating. He thought that was pretty amazing. I told him how proud everyone was of them and how much support they had on the outside.

He is a Grad and Go so will fly out either Thursday night or Friday morning to sub A-school in Groton, CT. We will get to see him after PIR for about 3 hours on base.

Oh yea, they have 5 flags so far! They get to fly them when they march, etc. He said the division is doing quite well.

I also got a call from my SR this morning! Apparently it was to 'let his parents know about PIR being on May 26th' haha which we all obviously already knew. But he sounded SO MUCH better than he did when I talked to him on Wednesday. His antibiotics must be working so hopefully your SR starts feeling better soon! It must be tough to have to be sick and miss out on things that are obviously important.

That's great that they have 5 flags! My SR  said that he gets to be one of the flag carriers! (Unless he gets fired for doing something wrong) So hopefully he gets to because that will make it easier to spot him at PIR!

I know! The last call was so upbeat...I anticipated a letter...then when he called today I find out he has pneumonia too ( I'm with you janh!). "Luckily", he got confined to his rack on Sat and Sun so didn't miss anything. BUT, he's worried because he said he didn't fall asleep in class but it looked like he did and he got kicked out for it and missed an important "event". He said-event. He said he sighed, blew out air and closed his eyes. I'm familiar with exactly what he did and I could see how it looks like a "fudge" on falling asleep or a deliberate move. I guess he won't be making that mistake again. Poor guy. You have to be careful and "think". You're not at home! Didn't say that though. Just encouraged him. Hopefully he gets to make it up.

Thanks Julie-it's like you KNOW these things...tell yourself them...but it is always good to hear them from someone else!

I am going to go and get a TON of cards to send! Think I will just flood him. Now I can pick up all the hilarious "Get Well" cards I had found! He has liked the cartoons and jokes!

The pneumonia is hard not to worry about. He sounded "good", considering. He's so worried about getting asmoed and I say better that than medically discharged. It's making the run for the PFA so difficult. He failed it again.

It's funny because he got off the phone and then called right back saying that he wasn't supposed to get off. I laughed, because I got a picture in my head of him being "ordered" to get back on because his time was not up! Don't know why...it just popped in there!

really talked about the PIR date change. ?! Seems like they are having all of them do that. They did it already! Mentioned "tickets" too. I think he meant the gate passes. Funny thing is...I think we are more informed here sometimes than our SR are! Plus, that's our focus for Boot, they have a lot of other stuff!

Someone else mentioned asking about naming friends and their SR said that he liked everyone there...that's a comfort to hear!

Julie, my son said the Navy will compensate anyone who had to pay a change fee for airline reservations due to the PIR date snafu.  I thought that was kind, but luckily, I did not book until after the date was finalized.  I believe the time is 0900.

Yes...he mentioned it A LOT. Had left a message on landline and then called on the cell. Wanted to "make sure". They told us this at the three week call.

Mine said to be there by 9 and PIR was at 10. It actually starts at 9 and ends at 10:30(according to the RTC site). Gates open at 6:30.

Julie- I forgot to thank you for this. It was encouraging and uplifting for me. Thank you for sharing too! It helps to "know".

I don't know anyone in division 180, but my RDC mentioned this was going to be his new division after mine graduated, and for that reason I sort of feel a connection to everyone's sons! (I think it's only males, right? His last division was integrated and I can't remember if he said he had an all male next or not). I'm glad to hear the division is doing so well. I'm sure they're making Senior proud.

Anyway, my best to everyone. They're halfway done, right? PIR soon... "It's gonna be awesome!....(hooyah awesome)." :)

-April

Thanks for your note April.  We are loving our division 180.  Most of our sons/husbands are happy and doing well.  They seem to have a lot of team spirit, so maybe we should credit the RDC you know.  Thanks for keeping up on us as we journey toward PIR.

I was just reading about battlestations and how they get their sailor hat when done. Also about how one mom felt when the big doors opened at PIR. I got tears in eyes and felt such a tremendous burst of pride.
I am so excited too! Just got a lump in my throat reading your post. Just 26 days until we see them!!!
