My phone is officially attached to me! I'm not doing the Miss-a-phone-call again. That was just to heart breaking!
Hi, My daughter SR Perdue is in Ship 2 Div 928.  She is the AROC for the division.  I can't tell you how proud of her I am onwhat she has accomplished already.  Counting down the days until May 26.  We are flying in from Atlanta GA the evening of May 25 and are staying at the Ramada Inn.  Anyone else staying there?  I was so excited to also have gotten 2 calls from her.  The first one, we both cried for almost two minutes before we could say anything to each other.  The second one was a lot better, LOL.  Can't wait to see her walk in with the honor guard carrying her guy.  Looking forward to meeting some of you when we get to PIR.  Janet
Welcome to the group Janet.  Unfortunately we're a small group but that doesn't matter!  We are all very fortunate that our SRs were picked to participate in the PIR.  I also received 2 calls from my son the past 2 weekends!  He got a third call on Sunday because "his shoes were shined the best in his division"!  He couldn't get in touch with me so he called his girlfriend which was fine.  I'm kinda getting used to the calls; imagine when they go to "A" school and we can text, call or email anytime we want to!  I don't ever think I'll take those for granted again!!!  I am also excited; 21 days and a wake up!  Hooyah!   If you are there early enough we're having a Meet & Greet for all family members at the Ramada Inn from 6:00 - 8:00.  If you get in and you're not too tired please come on down.  It will be great to get to meet each other before or at PIR.
Don't know if I will be able to make the meet and greet.  Our plane doesn't arrive until 6:24 PM and then we have to wait for my Dad to get in from Puerto Rico at 6:50 PM.  If you are there after 8:00 PM, maybe some of you will still be around.  I can't wait.  Have the date circled in every calendar around!!  Where is everyone from?  I was born in Puerto Rico, but my Dad was in the Army.  We traveled a lot when I was young.  I went to 3 different High Schools and graduated from a High School in the Canal Zone in Panama.  I lived in Richmond VA for over 25 years, and now live just south of Atlanta, GA.  My daughter can't wait to travel the world, she has heard us talk about all the places we have been too.  She will be going to A School in Great Lakes, so we will get to spend a few extra days with her.  Unfortunately, my husband is working on Sunday evening, so we are taking the first plane back on Sunday.  Hope to see you all there.

Ok ladies, we're getting even closer!  If you have any information in regards to phone calls, Battle Stations, tests, inspections, flags won (I know we have 1 flag so far and the possibility to pick up 3 more this week!), or how the division did on the previous items mentioned; anything that will pertain to the entire division please share it on this page.  Don't forget to get your blue candles so you'll be ready for Battle Stations night.  Light the candle at 8:00 pm CST on Battle Stations night for our SRs.  Also, if you haven't ordered your blue star flag yet go to the PIR 05/26/11 TG28 page.  I posted the link on there last week.  The flag is FREE so when your SR completes boot camp you can display it in your window to let everyone know that you have a family member in the military.

I do know that our division has started to band together, which I think usually happens in week 4 so we're right on schedule.  I believe they still have their final PFA, the gas chamber and Battle Stations.  Of course they're all practicing for the first PIR they will perform at which will be next Friday's PIR (05/13).  We can start looking on the RTC Facebook page for pictures that afternoon and, if we're lucky, we might even see our SR.  I hope that all of you are doing better since the phone calls started.  I know it has made all the difference in the world for me.  If you come in early enough on Wednesday 05/25 don't forget the Meet & Greet is at the Ramada Inn from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.  They have one for every PIR as a courtesy.  Can't wait to meet all of you after this journey we have been on.  Next time we see our SRs they will be official U.S. Sailors in the best Navy in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!  HOOYAH!

I just wanted to thank you again for all your helpful info!  Sorry I havn't been on much, I had to go take care of some family matters and didn't have a computer.  I refuse to get media on my phone ~ sticking with texting & phone calls only!!

I love getting letters from our son and the phone calls are a bonus! He said he is doing great and made EZ? what is that?!

Thanks again and we will see ya'll in a few short weeks!

Well, it turns out that is is E2, not EZ!!  How embarrassing!  I was asking my husband about it last night and he told me what it was, it looked like a Z to me!!  Oops!

He is doing so good and we are really proud of him!  He was a little bummed that someone had to leave for medical reasons and asked us to continue to pray for him.

Also, I tried to find out how to get the flag, but to no avail ~ would you mind putting the address back up for me? I would really appreciate it!

Thanks so much!

MamaMac:  Sorry but I have no earthly idea what an EZ is.  There's so much new stuff for us to learn too!  It's hard to keep up with all of it.  It's just wonderful that they passed their inspections!  I'm so proud of all of them!  They are really coming together as a team now and doing things for the greater good.  They took individual pictures last week and take division pictures this week.  Let me know if y'all hear anything about battle stations.  I heard Sunday the 22nd but haven't been able to confirm it.  Sixteen days left!!!!!!!

hi everybody as per my SR  ..ship02 div 928........ BS21` will be monday 23 before graduation......they will be playing for the next 3 graduations.. so look out for pictures of them  ..... carrying the flags and drummers...  they will be  playing for their own graduation ..... i got a nice long phone call  on mothers day...... .....  hope this helps  ..

Thanks Sonia, it does help.  People think because we're a Thursday PIR that they will start BS on Wednesday but on the RTC Facebook page yesterday it did NOT state that.  On that site it said that BS will start on Thursday like every other BS.  Since there are only 7 divisions and they can do 4 per night I wonder why they're waiting til Monday night?  I'm leaving Tuesday to go up there because I'm going by train and it's a 19 hour trip.  That means I will be on my way up there when I get the "I'm a Sailor"or "I'm not a Sailor" call.  I surely hope it is the former.  That would really bum me out to be on my way there and then find out he didn't make it.  I just don't like last minute stuff like this; it drives me nuts!!!!!  Thanks for the information though; it is appreciated.
i'm sure they will all do well... it will be worth the trip evevn if its 19 hours   .. i would do it too  if  i had too ....make sure your phone its charge ...  take  a good book... relax  so when you get there  you are nice and calm.. dont forget the tissues...

MamaMac:  Wow!  Congratulations to your son!  That means he ranked up in BC!!!!!  That's awesome!  My son missed it on his pushups for the first PFA so I'm a little bummed about that but I'm sure he'll make up for it one day.  I'm just glad he passed his second PFA!

Which flag do you mean?  The Blue Star flag?  I'll have to find it again but I'll post it as soon as I do.

Again, Congratulations!!!!!
