OK, ladies and gents--since my DEP ended up signing a new contract with an earlier leave time, I'll tell you what you have to look forward to.  They are going to make you CRAZY!  Not only is he wanting to run around with his friends and spend his last days with them, but he's become accident prone.  He fell carrying his fridge down the steps moving out of college last week and banged his knee hard.  Then yesterday 'tweaked' something in his shoulder while helping his dad.  I think I need to wrap him in bubble wrap.  We're down to single digit days now.  I'm starting to think he'll be safer in BC.

That is funny and not funny at the same time! I have been worried that he will have an accident too! All you can do is pray and let them go I guess...

Hi All,

I'll be shipping out on June 27th from New York City.

Cheers,
/Alex

Hi!

Although it's less than 2 months away it doesn't feel "close" to me yet.  :)  I have a lot to keep me busy between now and then - so, I'm hoping the time will fly by.  In the meantime, I'm concentrating on a strict workout plan & finishing up my spring semester courses.  I'm a little older than the average recruit (I'm 39) so I don't have to face the dual jitters of this being my first experience away from home & the culture shock of the military.  I feel confident going into this and can't wait for the adventure to begin.

I signed up for the hospital corpsman rating (HM-8404) which means a-school in San Antonio, TX and c-school probably at Camp Johnson, NC.

Thanks for the welcome!

/Alex

ps - In spite of my age, my mom (surprise!  :)  ) still sees me as her little boy.  So, I've forwarded her the N4M link as it might be helpful for her.  She's outwardly proud but I can see that inwardly any sentence that combines "military" and her son makes her VERY nervous.

Welcome Alex! We are glad you joined us! It sounds like you are going to have a wonderful career with the Navy! Midwest Mom is right this site will help your family out alot with questions and advise and just support.
You are being added to the calendar.  Make sure your family knows they can come on here and keep us updated on your progress!  Welcome and THANK YOU for serving!

Good Monday Afternoon to everyone!  I've mostly been a "quiet creeper" as my fiance calls it on the forums - and thought I would finally speak up and say hello.  You all already know my MIL to-be - lisarobin.  :-)  Definitely blessed to be sharing this experience with such a supportive and loving family.

I've noticed that my fiance goes through a wave of emotions almost nightly.  Everything from grumpy to excited, I've seen it and heard it all.  I've put it upon myself to be a cheerleader of sorts, and reassure him that everything is going to be just fine, and he seems to respond to that pretty well.  He's even messing with me now by saying that he better be seeing some wedding planning progress by the time he gets through boot camp.  :-P

Hello my quiet creeper! Everyone Amberrose is my future daughter-in-law and I am thrilled to finally be getting a daughter after 3 boys around the house for so long! :.)
So happy to have you onboard with us!  My husband and son already believe that there should be a 12-step program set up to wean me off of N4Ms and it is only just beginning.  :)  Keep creeping, but hopefully you'll jump in when you see others in your situation that need someone to relate to!
Hallmark has some recordable storybooks.  If your husband doesn't want to record one alone, maybe mom and dad could record a book together before he leaves.  We had my parents do them for the great grandchildren a couple years ago and also did one for our grandchildren.  We kept busting up laughing while doing them, but it will be really cool for them to hear daddy read them a bedtime story while he's gone to BC.  Just an idea--but not meant to add one more thing to his to-do list!  :)

Hi everyone, Looks like a few of us are now under a month to go.  I'm trying to think of it as a new beginning to a great adventure for my son, and our family as well.  Not an ending like I it has felt for the last year.

Hope everyone enjoyed their Mother's Day with their DEEP'er.

Nan

BCMadness -- Welcome to our site.  We are a very eclectic group of DEPers from 18-<40, wives, GF, fiancees, and of course moms!  (I think the dads are just creeping.)  I started the calendar, but then my DEP ended up signing a new contract and now leaves next week!  Welcome!
