I accepted, but I'm not sure where to go???...Emailing privately would be nice...

Yes, we received the form letter earlier this week.  It was remarkable because of the printing ... it was so neat that it was unrecognizable from son's normal printing.  Amazing that the Navy had that impact in such a short amount of time.

I am guessing you got the form letter because you know what ship/div your Recruit is in - or did you get it from the Recruiter?

Are you going to attend PIR?

See - the Navy has already had a positive affect on our boys:  improved handwriting.  YAY!  My son is turning 25 in 2 weeks.  He is a joker too.  I am looking forward to meeting you at PIR.  The Ramada has a "Meet and Greet" on Thursday night.  Please plan to be there.  We're from FL - Where are you?

I plan on staying at the Residence Inn but I will go to the Ramada for the Meet & Greet.  It seems to be THE place to meet up the night before PIR.

I am not on facebook because I am a diehard dinosaur.  Sorry!

I don't know.  Be careful about photos and personal information.  Better to err on the safe side.

We are fron Florida also Ft. Lauderdale area

I don't mean to be overly paranoid, but let's keep our screen names until Meet & Greet.  Then on our name tags, we can put our real name with our screen name underneath.   I hear that the RDC's read NavyforMom and try to figure out what mom belongs to what Recruit.  The Recruit can get picked on for it.

Hi ship2/div933,  Thanks for setting up this discussion group. Day 10 since arriving at BC. Missed his first call home-now phone lives near me at all times.  I got his box on Wed. and form letter on Thurs.  Mailed my first letter 4pgs on Sat. morning. My husband also sent him a 1 short page note.  My son is 23 yrs old, I wonder if he is in this special division since he is a EMT, maybe he will be a body snatcher?  He already has marching experience (band & CAP).  I asked him in a letter if he was asked if he wanted to be in this div.  I understand they still get to do everything all the other divisions are doing plus the extra training/practice.  Is there any female SR in this group? Is div933 a push division?
Hi Linaka!  Welcome aboard!  I didn't get a call - my son called his Dad and mailed his box to him too.  I am not hurt at all.  It made the most sense because Dad is home all the time and I have to work for a living (:->).  I am counting on getting the more important calls later and he knows that.  My son will turn 25 this month.  He had no EMT, marching or band, so I was surprised and honored that he was put in a 900 division.  I think there might be females in this division because there is a 02/932 going through BC at the same time (which would be a sister/brother) division.  When it is integrated, the girls go sleep with the sister division and the boys go sleep with the brother division, but during the day, they are mixed.  I hear it makes for a more pleasant boot camp experience to be integrated.  However, absolutely no kissyface is allowed - I've heard of a recruit being sent home, no questions asked, for getting caught.  I do not believe this division is a "push"  if you count it all out on a calendar, they are there for 8 weeks.

Hi Group- i haven't been on since Sunday a.m. I am from Indianapolis.  My son will turn 19 while at boot camp.  I've heard the same as capricorna, they watch the site to see what we post and/or if anything negative too from the recruits.  Carpricorna we are booked at Residence in too.  Because it is such an eventful weekend, i wanted to stay all weekend etc... I am planning on the Ramada Inn too. Although i haven't found details on that yet.  I just learned about site from a friend right before my son left for RTC, so havent' had time to play much.  Also, there is a facebook site you can check pictures of the recruits.  I've not seen mine yet, but I'll keep looking. The site is: www.facebook.com/NavyRecruitTrainingCommand  check out, i just clicked on photos and viewed all posted by posting date.  Goodluck.

No call or letter yet, outside of the form letter, and of course 'The Box'.  Tomorrow is week 2 for me, he left Indy on Wednesday 5/4.

Hope it arrives soon.  The more important thing is that you got the form letter and have the PIR date and address.  They have to pay for shipping charges - so maybe your SR might have decided to donate everything.
