OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I keep thinking that I am ready for this. After reading your posts MidwestMom I know I'm going to be a mess. This is what she wants and my husband and I are very happy and excited for her. It is weird, I didn't get like this when she went off to college not that long ago, but this feels like it will be forever. Once she goes her life really begins. I know I won't be left out of it, but talk about a sense of your child about to be a grown-up and leave the nest. That is what I think is really hitting the hardest.
For as much as we know they need to spread their wings and fly, there is still a large part of us that wants to keep them near the nest.  This is my youngest and he's been just an easy going kid all his life.  I know in 8 1/2 weeks, I will get a young, confident man with drive and a focus that I haven't seen before.  I know that I'm going to be incredibly proud of that young man.  And I know I will always miss my little boy.  Mine is starting as a reservist, so I have it much easier than most of you.  At some point, he will return to finish college.  At this time, he hopes to then go full-time into the military, but I'm still in denial...
Hello Midwest Mom...just checking in before I go to bed.  I've been reading your sweet posts. I know it must have been terribly hard but it sounds like you have got a very sweet young man! I know you are proud of him. Thank you for sharing with us. It does help me just hearing another mom feel what I know we are all going to feel in a couple of weeks. Good night. :.)
Thank you!  Talked with a mom yesterday who has a daughter in Army Reserves, a daughter who left yesterday for Air Force (full time), and a son who just graduated and will be leaving next spring for the Marines.  There are a lot of amazing families out there who are raising wonderful young men and women willing to serve!
Welcome to the June group, Bobbijk!
thx so much.......this is all surreal

Welcome bobbijk1971! I'm creeping somewhat while I'm on vacation. I have my son down at the beach for a week so I haven't be getting on much. Weather is good. Temps were in low 70's but is climbing every day and is suppose to be in the middle 80's over next few days. We are having a good time. Nice to have this time together.

thx lisarobin .........i know how u feel lol
where is the final swearing in im so sry but thx for everything midwestmom u have it all together and are so proud and again as all have said thx for sharing your experience with us it is greatly appreciated

The final swearing in will most likely be the same location where he went initially to test and swear into the delayed entry program.  BTW -- I don't have everything together, but this site has helped me to know what to expect, when to expect it and for me, that means a lot.  Enjoy your time with your DEP!  I think I'm going to mentally creep LisaRobin and join her on the beach!  :)

lol i dont blame u there thx if not for ppl like yall id be so lost :) the beach does sound great lol
come join us! i'm on my way as we speak!
