Thank you everyone. I spoke with my daughter a little while ago and she turned down the early leave. The recruiter was okay with it. He told her that when he saw the opportunity come up he thought of her and called her right away, that was nice. So now, back to getting everything ready, including myself, for June 27.

here's what i don't understand.  there are 4 dates the week of 6/20 where we have loved ones leaving for bootcamp.  does this mean they will be in 4 different graduating classes or are they all going to be together?  once they leave how do we find mom's with the same PIR?
You won't know the PIR date until you get the form letter.  Some divisions fill quickly, and others can take more than a week so it will depend on the division your DEP is assigned.  I'm still waiting for the form letter, but I 'think' mine will graduate 7/15 as those that left a week before are now getting letters saying their PIR is 7/8.  That is all a guess though because one mom wrote her son left 5/10 and will PIR on 7/8 and another one wrote her's left 5/11 and will PIR on 7/1!  Not much sense in that, but one probably jumped into a division immediately and the other took a few days to form.  Mine left Tues and I'm hoping his div filled by Friday, but who knows?!?  Just go with the flow and hope once they are in a div, they stay healthy and pass their tests!  Oh, and pray!  :)
Hey Everyone! The fun is over and I'm back home. We all had a good time though. Tybee Beach has a Beach Bum Parade where everyone shoots everyone with water guns. They are in the parade and on the sides. Old and Young alike get into it! We had an older couple that kept sneaking up on us and shooting us when we weren't looking! I think my son and his fiance had a good time which is the main thing.  Now shooting for his party Saturday. Having an Anchors Aweigh party too Midwest Mom.
Decorations?  I'm not that organized, lol.  :)  I didn't even realize until the end of the day that I hadn't hung our Navy flag outside.  We live in the country and my Navy flag is a bit heavy for my weany pole so we have to take it off whenever it is windy.  That day was really nice, but I forgot to hang up the flag.  Mostly, we just welcomed friends and family and let everyone say good luck to our DEP.  Made some of his favorite foods and enjoyed the day!  Make it as relaxing for you as you can and laugh as much as you can.  I did hot foods in crock pots so I wouldn't have to mess with things during the day.
Hey Ellebee and MidwestMom! My decorations are few mainly flag plates, cups, etc. I did get a Navy Flag to put out. Ours is going to be a cookout at one of our parks..very simple just hotdogs, cokes, and a cake.  Amberrose found on N4M's where they had a place where you could leave your email address so the mom could send everyone the DEP's address when they got to bootcamp.  They also had a place where they could write a note so the mom could send it on to their son. I thought that was pretty cool so I plan to have a table for that.  Other than that though it is going to be pretty laid back.  I just hope his friends get to come.
That's why this website is so great! Everyone has good info to share right? :.)
That's right, LisaRobin!  I told people to bring a card if they wanted and I would mail it once I had his address.  Only two families thought to do it.  I've also told them if they wanted to write to him that they should just e-mail their letter and I would send it.  I'm a bit paranoid, but I don't want anyone sending him a musical card or bright envelope..or candy, etc., so not many are going to get his address outright from me.  We have quite a few jokesters in the family.

I hadn't thought of that but you are right. They might do that just as a prank but he would have to pay for it.  Good idea about emailing the letter...that saves them postage too.

My kids would call me a control freak, but some of them would be the first ones to send their little brother something that would end up with him and/or his division doing push ups!  My mom wanted to send him money.  I told her no, he didn't need anything at boot camp.  She stuck in a check anyway.  I took it out and will deposit it in his account and just put a note in their card that they'd done it so he'd know to thank them for it.  It also gave me an opportunity to stick in stamped envelopes with their address so he could write them notes and send them easily.  What we won't do for them!  :)
Boy I know!  I am the same way!  He knows it too! :.)  Have you gotten his address yet?
No.  I'm sure the recruiter would have it now, but I'm going to wait until tomorrow to call him.  I'm trying to be good, but there's no way I'm going to make it much longer without being able to send him mail.  I don't want him to be sitting there with nothing to read at that first Mail Call!
