While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Anyone have a sailor who left for boot camp on May 19, 2011?
My son left for boot camp yesterday and like everyone else here I am so proud and heartbroken at the same time.
My biggest question is when will we know about PIR/Graduation? I know we don't hear from him again until week 3. I already went thru the survival guide. I'm just ready to know details. LOL A little OCD, I guess...

My son left today for bootcamp so I am still waiting for the first official phone call from bootcamp. He has called and let me know they have arrived at the airport and will get something to eat before heading to the USO for check-in. Times have changed since I went to bootcamp in 79. I got to spend my bootcamp in Orlando, Fl in January. They forgot to tell me how cold it could get there! Today has been hard but at least we are one day closer to his graduation.

Waiting for that phone call was so hard....I wanted to sleep but just wanted to stare at the phone too. My daughter took her cell phone with her also and for some strange reason that comforted me.
Still waiting for an address but already have the letters piled up ready to go!

Got my 10 second phone call at 1:42. I tried to stay awake but fell asleep. I could tell it was something he had to read. In true Jonathan fashion he did add make sure you write and I love you. He sounded tired but did manage to get some rest on the plane. I did warn him and the other kids not to expect much sleep this week. Amazing how much is coming back to me over 30 years later. Have you called your recruiter for the address? I was told mine would have it by tomorrow so we could start writing. Thanks for the info. It is so different when it is your child going.

That's great that you got "the call". It gave me such a peace when we got the call at almost midnight last Thursday night. Now, it's waiting on the first letter to arrive. I have been reading that if we call the recruiter for the address it may or may not be correct and if it's inaccurate then it will delay him receiving? So, I've just decided to wait it out. I met my husband while he was in the Navy in 1983. He had less than a year left to serve of his active duty. He says the same thing now that it's our son . . . it's amazing the memories that are coming back!

I did call the recruiter yesterday...he didn't have it yet.
When my daughter called it was the usual I am here, I love you and I will maybe get to call in 3 weeks.....
She had hr cell phone and we hung up ....a couple of seconds later she called right back and just said...."i love you mom" PERFECT!!!!

Mine sent a text msg telling me he loved me after the phone call so I can keep it. I got the address from the recruiter. I am going to write and hopefully it will get to him. If not it will catch up and he will get alot of mail.

My son left for Bootcamp on May 18th. We have had the 1st call and I have received the address from the recruiter. I'm nervous about sending any letters in case the address is wrong. I know that I am missing him alot. It is good to have this website to get information. I'm waiting on "the box".

I have called the recruiter 2 times and still do not have it. I am sure they have had to deal with a few moms before but.....they should be nice to me!!! (lol)
It is really exciting to start seeing people here that had their kids leave within a couple of days of aeach other....It will be nice when we can compare and see if are kids are together. Either way hopefully we can meet at the meet and greet right before graduation.
What is your son's rate? Where are you from?

I'm just a bit ahead of you ladies, so I thought I'd pass on my timeline. My son shipped out 5/17, Tuesday, and we got the call at 8:25 which is pretty early from most postings I've seen. We got the box on Friday (3 days) and the form letter yesterday (6 days). His PIR is a week earlier than we expected as well -- only 7 1/2 weeks from when he started BC. I think we have been extremely lucky in the very quick turn around times! Now...just so he stays healthy and passes all his tests! Good luck to all of you!
