Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Bank Account
I hope you all are having a wonderful day! I just have a question, me and my husband have a joint bank account and for that reason we decided that we won't get a power of attorney, which now i realize as a big mistake. He signed up for "Navy bank". Now I am worried that I won't have any access to his money and I won't be able to afford the trip to GL for his PIR.. What do you suggest we do?
Can he wire me money while he is in BC?
I guess i could drive to Great Lakes all the way from San Francisco and just sleep in my car just to be able to attend PIR.
Please help!

I have no clue how the Navy Bank works in fact my son is leaving for BC in Dec and we are not sure if he should us his Chase acct that he currently has or should he go with Navy Bank. Any information would be appreciated.
Joel, how far a drive from San Fran to GL? And what about hotel in GL? -

Navy Federal Credit Union, is a great option, the can access their money from BC once they get paid. They have branches at most bases. They can even get overdraft protection. Once he gets out of BC and if it's not working out for him he could always change.
We have a Navy Federal CU near us so it is easy to give him money if he needs it.
They also have online banking that is very convinent.
I would recomend getting a power of attorney so you can take care of anything he needs. A local attorney did it for "Free" because he was joining the NAVY.
Also if he has any credit cards, you can fax his enlistment papers to the credit card companies and they will lower his interest rate to no more than 6%

He can wire money from the Navy Credit Union to your account. Make sure you send him your account ABA/ Routing number (check with your bank, sometimes it is different from your check book routing number, sometimes it's the same so make sure you ask your bank what the wire ABA number is) and your account number, in two different letters (safety reasons). You would have the money in a few hours.
It takes them a while to get their first check though and they cant just go to the bank whenever they want. Their access is very limited.

Check with your Bank, the Routing number for a Wire might NOT be the same as the number on your check, You also might want to make sure he still has the check.
