Thats cool! I HATE California! all of it! lol But I grew up as an Army brat so I've seen a lot of the country and I know there is so much more out there than what Cali has to offer lol. My hubby LOVES it and hopes to get stationed in San Diego when he completes Nuke school! We are so different but so much the same... I think he will realize there is so much more out there when he actually ventures out into it! He grew up here so it is all he knows!9 more days! I can't wait!

I hope my son wants to move back to the east coast once school it over.  I know his wife wants to come back to the east coast since all of their families are here. They may try Norfolk since my niece and nephew are stationed near there. Will see what happens, just scared my son will love California and want to stay.
It wont let me reply to you!  I don't know why! I'm worried about living on the east coast.. I don't really want to stay there... Hurricanes scare me! I would love to go to Washington. We used to live in Oregon and I loved it! I loved to visit Washington... And I have family there and throughout Idaho... We will see. We will make the best of anywhere we go! And I will not mind it anywhere as long as I can be with him! Italy sure would be nice though! ;) His uncle was there for 3 years and LOVED it!

I think it doesn't give you the option to reply until the 15 minute edit time is up.  So it will not let me reply either. Hurricanes are not that bad, to me the worst part is the week sometimes two weeks of listening to the news telling you its heading for you then in 1 hour its going the other way and the hurricane is still 700 miles away!  I'm from Tennesee so I wasn't use to them either but after about the first 3 I got over it real quick. Make sure you buy alot of candles, batteries, flash lights and if you are living in a house see about investing in a generator!

Haha Okay! Yeah when we lived in either Kentucky or Tennessee we were in a Tornado (tore our chimney off on Mothers Day) and here we have to deal with Earthquakes.  I HATE earthquakes! And there's no warning for them... they just happen.  How old is your son? Do he and his wife have any kids? Where in Cali are they going for A school? Does she get to go with him?

My son will be 24 on June 5th!  I wish I could see him up to Sunday but he will leave on Saturday for A school.  He and his wife have a 3 year old son.  They are saying that he will be able to move his family to Cali with 2 weeks to a month.  He is going to be in Monterey.  I hear it is beautiful there. I think that the earthquakes are the reason I have no desire to go to California but it looks like I will be visiting there. Tornadoes are scary but most of them come and go without much destruction.  The ones the last few months have been pretty scary though.

I bet! I'm glad they will get to go with him! I wish we were able to talk to them! I have SOOOO many questions that I am in desperate need of answers for... but I don't know how to get them.  Maybe I will just call the housing on base to find out!  He will be home on the 8th to move me out there... so I have to get all this take care of on my own...I can do it though! =) Monterey is very beautiful! Good place to go visit!
Housing should be able to answer your questions. I know my daughter in law called and they could answer basic questions but until my son gets there they can't even get on a list for housing.  My son wrote that he was told there is plenty of married housing in Monterey so she should be able to move out there as soon as he finishes he second phase, which should be in a few week after bootcamp
That's cool! I just want to know if we could use our own fridge lol. We just bought it about 9 months ago, but I know that the housing in Goose Creek already has fridges... I just want ours! lol
Received a letter, from my SR, in today's mail and he wrote the letter this past Sunday.  In his letter he said...and I will quote it word-for-word:  "We are doing BATTLESTATIONS on Wednesday, May 25, beginning at 20:00 (8 PM)!  So, Mom, be sure to have your cell phone, at hand, after 0800 (8 A.M.) on Thursday May 26 so you can received my I AM A SAILOR call!"  So...is he confused?  Or is DIV 189 doing Battlestations TONIGHT?  Just a heads-up...in case tomorrow is our phone call day!  Maybe be prepared tomorrow AND Friday.  Who knows for certain?

I'm have mixed feelings about the days.  Either day I know he will call his wife and if it is after 7:30 eastern time I will be on my way to work!  Oh well just light my blue candle and wait for next week!

Thanks Lujos mom for the heads up about battlestations. They could have rescheduled it since my son wrote. His letter was dated May 15. Well I'm going to start praying now for all of div 189!!!  I know that they are going to do great and hopefully we will all be on here tomorrow saying we got the call!!!
