thanks so much, i did call the recruiter, but he is out of the office till Tuesday. What do they think this is a National Holiday? Just kidding, trying to keep a sense of humor through all this. He did finally call me, but he still wont have it till tuesday.
we got "the box" on tuesday, and his recruiter gave us his address. i mailed two letters, and i am working on the third. thanks for the support.
Hello.  Yes, my son left from Tampa, May 25th.  It was probably the most emotional experience.  I am happy for him, but it so hard to let go.  He called his GF this morning at 2am but she missed his call :(  Hopefully he will be able to make another call soon.  I can't wait to get his address so we can send him letters.
me too, i will keep you posted
My son went to the hotel on Tuesday, MEPS on Wednesday, then they left for the airport at about 1pm.  There were 3 of them shipping out the same day, I wonder if I met your son?  We went to the hotel to have dinner with him Tuesday evening.  My son is 20 also, he is my first of 3 boys to leave.  I have been writing letters, can't wait to mail them... soon I hope.  He called his fiance, the first call at about 2 am but she missed his call :(
my son is from connecticut, left from springfield, they got to great lakes at 2 in the morning. i slept (not very well, mind you) with the phone next to my ear so i wouldnt miss the call. he sounded tired, but said he was ok.

My son left for bootcamp on May 25, 2011 from Columbus, Ohio.  I missed the call from my son, but he reached his girlfriend that evening.   There were 3 males and 1 female that left from Columbus for Navy bootcamp on May 25, 2011.  My son's division on the address given to me by the recruiter is 936.

my son is in ship 02/division 936

Hello I live in West Palm Beach, FL and my neice flew out of Miami on May 25th. Two days after her high school graduation. She called at 2 am sounding really tired but, ok. My prayers are with the recruits and their families.

My son left on May 17th. His clothing and cell phone I recieved in a box within 3 days and by sat., I recieved a pamphlet with info on Ship # and Div# (the address). Also at the bottom he was able to write 2 or 3 sentences about anything. It seemed like forever.

I know exactly how you feel.  My daughter left the same day, May 25th!  The hours waiting for her her phone call were torturous!   We were told  it would take up to 3 weeks before we would know where to mail her letters.

I received my son's box yesterday (Tue) with his clothes, shoes...everything he took with him.  There was a letter to his fiance in the pocket of his jeans. :)  I am assuming that he wrote it on the airplane.  I also called his recruiter yesterday and he gave me his address.   Ship 02 Div 936  USS Reuben James
