Just curious - where are all the different "A" schools and what jobs go to each one.
I know that Master at Arms has a school on an Air Force base in San Antonio, Texas. My son is a Master at Arms, but he got sent to Dam Neck in Virginia Beach, VA. I know that alot of guys have "A" school in Great Lakes. There are about 20 different "A" schools across the street. Which ones stay there? I know the SEALS do.

Seems like they have a lot of sailors in some of these classes. My son has gone in the evening, and the morning. He goes on the week end since it is an option and if he is in morning classes, he goes back at night . Then, there is the back log. He has seen some kids dropped and sent to other schools..
No, he doesn't. Not yet???
I agree A-school is confusing. Matt started "indock" I think that is what its called, He attends night school. He said his classes are 4 to 10:30. Next week he starts another class. This one will be during the day so he tells me he has to move across base. This means a new dorm, new room mates. And actual A-school will be in San Diego. This won't be until June. If things move right along. Very confusing for us but I guess as long as Matt knows what he is doing that is all that matters.
We live so far from GL//I don't know that a weekend Liberty would do much for us..Lucky you!!
HI Brenda,
My son (Brad) is currently in San Antonio for "A" school Master at Arms. I am sure your son has graduated already and is probably at port somewhere. How is he liking his job? Brad has told me he has a 99% chance of going to Behrain or Iraq after his school. That is really soon...not much training before they deploy, if it is true. So I would love to here what has been going on with your son since March. Thanks so much!
pray tell. I am curious to know some of them. I am amazed that there are so many positions available.
Our son was an IT (information Technology) he went to A-school in Pensacola, FL. I don't know really anything about the other schools.
My daughter is in Fort Meade, MD. She PIR'd 4/18/08 and is in MC for joint military forces: Army, Coast Guard, Marines, Navy and Air Force. MC is mass communications. She has been selected to continue on for C school at same site.
My son started A school in Great Lakes on July 9th to become a Hull Tech. This is supposed to be finished in November.
My son will be going to A school in either Texas or Florida, for something to do with structural aviation. Anybody know where to find out how long these different schools are? Ethan graduates 9/5 from Great Lakes, and says he's a Grad and Go. He thought his A school is in Texas. After he is done with that, he was told he will go to Iraq.
Is your son a Seabee? If you can tell me his rate Michelle, I can try to do some homework on it and usually that will tell you where his A school is and how long it last.
My son is going to Virginia Beach, Va for A school and he is going to be an Aviation Structural Mechanic. I know they have A school in Great Lakes, IL and also Pensacola, FL, and I think there is one in Mississippi, but not completely sure.
