ok you and midwest have got me crying here lol thx tho is so great to have ppl like you all to lean on and understand
Hey Justin&RyansMom! Do you mind sharing where you stayed and what you did? Did you get a refundable ticket or just get it when time was closer? We are already talking about that at the home and wondering when we should start planning it.  Will he go to school in VA? I know you are so happy to see him and relieved that that part is over!
lisarobin - We bought our tickets through Southwest because you can switch your tickets without a fee for only the difference in fare and I think I purchased them about 3 1/2 weeks before we left and got pretty good prices.  We stayed at the Quality Inn in Waukegan, it is a good price if you are on a budget, but I will probably choose a higher priced hotel next time.  That one is a little older and the counter space was super small for myseft and teen aged daughter to share.  Liked the shuttle, but a lot of the hotels offer that and it did not seem that parking yourself would be that big of deal, might do that next time.  My SR was more interested in eating "real" food so we ate nice dinners every night and saw a movie one day, he took a long nap at our hotel another day, they last day we took a few of his friends whose family had already left with us to Chicago and went to Navy Pier, had lunch and did some shopping, then we dropped the boys at the train station to take back to the base and we headed to the airport.  We wanted to take him to a Cubs game but he is an Angels Fan and was not interested, to my husbands dissapointment.  My younger son leaves for VA in a few days for 4 weeks of A School, while my older son will be in Pensicola FL for 2 years, so he will be a grad N go.

Thank you for the info. Been confused about where and when to get plane ticket too. While sounds like you have a lot going on between the two. You will be a pro by the time the next one goes. :.)

I checked flights to 3 locations for best deals - Milwake, Ohare and Midway.  Southwest does not fly into Ohare, but Midway was the cheapest.   Just check all routes when you have time to sit down and go over it.  The distance is not that different if you can save some money.
Yes bobbijk1971 I feel like I am running out of time too. It is like where did the time go? Now we are in a race to get everything done this week. By the way, listen to monkeymind and call the 1800# for Navy Fed or go to one of their locations. I tried to do online and it not only didn't add me as a joint but it didn't give him a applicant number so we are going to have to call tomorrow and see if it even took. Also, it said to allow 5 to 7 days which we don't have! Hoping to go to location in Atlanta and take care of it in person.
thx we are doing the navy fed thing wednesday when he gets back home from his dads which will give him 1 week and a half to get all his info and stuff planned we also whcich was great advice are getting his black book bag packed with his stuff for after so i will know what to send to him laptop and so forth i understand how things are for ya and everyone on here has been so so helpful like we all go thru it together is so great but i dont know if its my age or what but every little thing brings a tear good luck with your son i wonder if we will all in june have the same pir?
I don't know but it would be neat if they were. Sounds like you have everything covered
lol hardly together but i am trying
