While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

I'm so happy for those of you who received phone calls tonite! I haven't gotten a call and suspect he called his Dad because we spoke last week (it was a "business" call last Tuesday) and SR will try to keep it "even" - so it is Dad's "turn". It's okay. I know he is fine (and he's not one of those who can't shut up... :->) I need to go walk the dog, but I'm reluctant to leave. Oh well, worst case scenario is that he'll leave a voice mail that I will be able to listen to over and over again :->
It can only get easier from here!

don't leave the phone. He got like 30 min to chat. we chattedfor about 23, then he hung up to call his Dad. I would wait and see. W spoke from 6:00 to about 6:30 ET.

That's right about the time that he called his Dad. There was a call that came in to me from an 850 number at 7:50 my time (6:50 your time) - I didn't answer because that's Tallahassee (I'm in FL) and I used to dog rescue - I still get a ton of calls about rescue and thought that call was one of those calls. It could have been my SR because the calling card could say anywhere - not just 847. There was no message in voice mail - just a delayed hang up. It's okay. I know he's good. I'm holding out for that "I'm a Sailor" call. :->

Everyone - please don't take anything said about departures for A School after PIR to heart. They (the RDC's) seem to like to tell them all they're going to be leaving immediately. It isn't necessarily so. It's just their way of getting them psyched to expect the worst and be pleasantly surprised if it doesn't happen that way. The SR's (and even the RDC's) won't know until they get the ticket in their hands (usually the day before PIR). There was a recommendation I saw on another N4M discussion about sending a form to your SR a paper at PIR to get his/her departure information. Here's what it said:

Once you have your plane ticket, complete the answers below and then take it with you to PIR and hand it to us after the ceremony (do not mail it):
Airport_______________________________
Airline________________________________
Flight #___________________________
Flight time_________________________
First destination (if more than one flight) _______________________________
Time the bus leaves RTC_______________
Are you on a special "chartered flight"? ____ if not, we will meet you at the airport and stay with you as long as possible!**********************************
They will get their boarding pass (usually before PIR) and will be able to do this.
They have to get to airport early for security reasons. Their flights could be early in the AM or late afternoon. Just don't miss their flight if you don't want to get there as early as them.
You will also need your sailor to go to the airline ticket counter with you so you can get a military family gate pass. This will get you through security so you can wait at the gate with your sailor. So, its probably best to get to the airport when your sailor does.
USO is before security at O’Hare and after security at Midway.

Have you all not gotten any calls yet? I don't know what your chances are - just be sure to tell your shipmate families to post on line as soon as anyone gets a call as a heads up to everyone else. I'm thinking 932 and 933 are sister/brother divisions. Maybe...

My son did say that 932 was their brother/sister division (but didn't say if he knew if they got calls.) The only bad thing about the call was there was a ton of static, so there were times I couldn't hear clearly. He did say they were all Grad & Go, but he knows he is staying in Chicago so that makes a difference. He said they had some meeting next week that he hopes to learn more. He also said they were doing a documentary on one of the 200 divisions - they wondered why they weren't doing it on a 900 division, but they realized they are too busy to have anything else on their plates! He didn't know when the next calls would come! But 4 weeks will be here soon! I'm sorry you didn't get to talk tonight Capricoma!

Aw thanks Annev - it's okay. I got to speak with him last Tuesday anyways so I'm good.
The piece on the 200 division I think is what the Lake County local newspaper is doing.
The 900 divisions at this PIR will be extra special because of the centennial celebration, I think. We shall see... My SR told his dad tonite that he might be at RTC as long as June 7th before he departs for Pensacola so who knows! Unless you have an SR staying at Great Lakes, ya just don't know until you know.
