Happy Memorial Day to all of you on this serious day.

I thank God for the sacrifices of those who gave their all.

Thank you Indiemom for the advice about not crying if/when we get a call.

God bless the USA.

Yeah I finally found my SR's group!!!
I am still learning how to navigate Navymoms site. But I am so glad to find the group of other moms with the same ship and division.

Welcome zbmom!!!  We're so glad you found us!  The more the merrier!  There are about 9 of us now:

Linaka, Indymom, Beachtalk1, Fritzy58, CindyM, Coach, Annev, me (Capricorna) and you.  I hope I haven't missed anyone.  Can't wait to meet you on Thursday nite before PIR.

I can't wait to meet you too! But I have to say and I am sure you will all agree, I just can't wait for the hug from a special sailor!

Oh man, you got that right!!!  I can't wait.  Not sure I'll be able to let go.  They're going to have to pry my fingers off his arm.  I hope I don't damage his uniform.

Capricorna- Amen!!  I'm going to be very honest, i can't begin to tell you how dissappointed i am they we didn't get calls this weekend.  I've not checked the other PIR 7/1 groups yet to see if they're getting calls yet.

I'm going to check later today.  But maybe that's not a good idea, it might make it even harder.

I won't let my phone out of my sight!  I keep hoping. It does help to see that no one else got any, or else I would worry something was wrong with just him, so I am grateful for this group!
Only get on occasionally but I'm here too.

I am disappointed that we didn't get calls this weekend too.  I suspect they're being punished for something somebody did or didn't do.  My son said they've had IT (intensive therapy?) 6 times because some shipmates don't know when to be quiet.  He was not happy.  Let's just keep our heads up and pray that they'll be able to telephone us soon.

On another topic:  There's a person (Lala Ribbon Queen) who makes and sells ribbons to wear at PIR weekend.  She charges $6 per "ribbon" (plus postage) or $30 for 4 (includes postage).  I was thinking, why not make our own?  Check out this lapel pin (there are others, but I liked this one because it doesn't try to mimic officer's lapel pins):

http://www.4armedforces.com/c=fduCSA98cq0Rp6sgepjuV6PpW/product/010...

The pin says "I [heart] My Sailor" and is only $3.95 plus postage.  I was thinking we could add a ribbon behind it that has our Sailor's name and Division number on the tails that dangle.  We could wear them at the Meet & Greet and to PIR.  I will wear the pin every day once he calls with his "I'm a Sailor" call.  I can buy a bunch and bring them to the Meet & Greet.  Would  you like that?  I could buy 10 pins for just a little more than it would cost me to get 4 from LalaRibbonQueen.  Would yellow or white ribbon be better?  Let me know what y'all think.

Capricorna- i think it is a great idea, if you do not mind handling.  Should we do blue for the navy?

I checked other ship/divs i think there are 2 with calls, but it just happened this past weekend, and comments the same as no calls due to non confirming to rules.  My SAR indicated our group is having a tough time with that, and yes IT too.  I think that is what has brought their moral down.  They know it's going to happen, they expect what they're getting, but didn't expect at the level due to 'others' who cannot 'keep their mouth shut' as my SR put in his letter...  So the unit ends up with additional IT and all the other stuff that goes along with it.

anney- my phone is same way...goes everywhere with me :)
