Isn't it great?!? I really think (hope) the worst for them is over and it will really go fast from this point forward.
I just hope they all stay fit and healthy to the end - no injuries for anyone.
It sounds great. Thanks again for doing that for us! Four weeks from today we will be there. It is hard to believe.
I'm still so excited since talking with my SR. I think this week they are in Weapons training and will get their pictures done. I had asked my SR about his hair and he said they will get 3 haircuts during BC. He normally has a short haircut anyways. I booked the room at the Ramada. They were very accomadating- I've had back surgery and they will put us on the bottom floor. My SR told me that his A school training was changed to Texas- he was suppose to stay in GL for the 14 weeks, but as I read they can & will change plans anytime. He also told me he wrote this past Sunday and I should be getting all the questionaires and a note back this week. Last week I got it on Thurs. (today) but maybe with Memorial day it will be a day later. I'll let you know if there is any news about the division.
Linaka,
Is your SR hospital corpsmen? Mine was supposed to be in GL for 6 months, but it looks like from other things I am seeing is that may be in San Antonio now - although he was told right before he left that it was GL. When I talked to him Tuesday he didn't mention a change, but I have written and will be sure to ask next time we talk. I have already made all the reservations - staying through the 4th, just in case he is there and has the time! We are at the Springhill Suites in Waukegan/Gurnee - got a room that had space for him to crash during the day or at night if he was really fortunate! It took until Friday for us to get his letter last week - he couldn't believe it took that long. Haven't gotten the one he said he wrote on Sunday.
Thanks Capricorna! Funny my son said that when he first got there the RDC said to him, "You look like the big Russian from Rocky IV". My son didn't know how to respond so he said "Yes Petty Officer". The RDC just laughed and walked away!
Hi Ship 02/Div 933...got a letter today, sounds like they were able to write this past Sunday, and you'll probably be getting one this week too. With Memorail Day, mail is off a day. This letter was great, he sounded really upbeat. I feel much better. He asked for stamps and paper. Doing okay, not been sick. Although, they''ve given him a ton of fillings, which is freaking me out a little bit, as he has gone to dentist regulary since he was 2 (missed last year appts), and even had sealents placed on his molars, so how did he have that many fillings? I asked my husband if they are charged for those (he was in the Navy too), he said no. I thot perhaps they were doing that to charge him.
Oh well...no big deal if that's the worst of it. Wisdom teeth they told him August.
It sounds like that a of them have been told one thing and finding another. Who knows until we get there.
I'm glad to hear you got a letter and that it was upbeat. My son had no cavities even tho' he hadn't been to the dentist in awhile. I think the civilian one was claiming he had gingivitis just to charge for the extra treatment. He will have his wisdom teeth out while he is in A School. I'm so glad he didn't have to go through that at Boot Camp, but I've heard that they welcome the 2 days "off". It doesn't matter - it is what it is. It's out of my control (and always has been :->). I really think the Navy is training us (as family members) to just expect not to know anything until the last minute. It makes sense - better security that way. Loose lips sink ships.
Best wishes for letters for everyone!
Welcome DianefromPittsburgh!
I agree - July1st PIR will be special. Heck, any PIR will be special!
Glad you found us. Welcome aboard.
