I didn't hear from my SR any word on her A school orders. She'll be going to corpsman training. Her recruiter told her she'd go to GL (even though a few weeks before she left, he told her it might be San Antonio). I'm hearing thru N4M, that they're sending all corpsman to SA now. Either way- does anyone know how long we'll have with our SRs after PIR?

Besides that, I thought a discussion group of us with corpsman can share any info we get on that anyway. Come join in!

DH987- Do you mean he said he's still leaving early Sat morning?? When did you get a call? He's in division 200, correct? Is everything alright? I'm starting to panic again.... breathe, breathe......

Mine told me that he was scheduled to leave at 2:00 a.m. on Saturday but he said that we could go with him to the airport to see him off.  He said they have to be back on base at about 8:00 p.m. on Friday.

DH, I was giggling at my son because he told me that he eats the main entree, a couple of sides, and a bow of frosted flakes at every meal.  :)  He also said that he has gained 12 lbs.  He was worried before he went that he wouldn't weigh enough.  He was drinking protein shakes and weighing a lot.  :)

GMom, in the midst of my fabuous day with my Sailor, I found myself having a rough personal time.  Lots of little things tugging at my heart.  I sure appreciate your comment.

Pffffft, I wish I had the "worried about not weighing enough" problem!!!! ;)

LOVE YOU, GIRLSYK!! <3

Usually they are all bussed (that word looks so funny to me...) to the airport between 2-4 AM on Saturday...their flight can leave anywhere from the very early morning to the late evening (and sometimes into Sunday, but don't get your hopes up too much ;)). Usually their families can meet them at the airport in the morning and hang out with them (past security with a gate pass) until their plane leaves. It is my understanding that with a charter flight, we don't get to hang out with them AND we can't give them their black bag...EEK! So I do hope it's a commercial flight. Not sure if it will be out of Midway or O'Hare. This is all info I've picked up on these boards, so I'm assuming it's correct because it's from past experiences. :)

Ladies, what gnome is saying is pretty much what my son said. They will have to be at the airport very early. he wasn't sure of his exact flight time, but that we can go with them and give them somethings (phone, ipod oh and Ty want's his nook) then when they get to A school they will find out what we can send them and when.

Kitty~ yes A School is their Corpsman training. They will most likely all be in training together. One of Ty's closest friends in Basic ended up having a liver disease and got a medical discharge, they were really looking forward to going to A school together. He sounded so great on the phone. & then hoped on facebook just to put an update on and sent me a chat that said "luv ya, cya friday"

I wish I could make it to the meet and greet Thurs but our flight gets in to late. I have a final exam to take Thurs morning, but I'm sure we will meet if not at the ceremony at the airport.

Girlsyk~ I hear ya on the food. Ty told me that he ate a Taco Bell $5 meal, plus, plus, plus and I said I don't want to feed you anymore. lol But he hasn't gained a pound since he got there. It was kind of funny cause I have been wearing a couple of his sweatshirts & his favorite jacket and thought maybe I would get to keep them cause he would gain weight & bulk up, but when we got his letter that he weighed the same as when he left my daughter laughed at me and told me I had to give them back. NOT FAIR, I try to loose weight and he tries to gain............hmm something wrong there. Also anytime you need to talk just let me know. It will get easier,  but it will also bring a whole new set of challenges.

It takes both rain and sun to make a rainbow. that is one of my favorite sayings that I have said every since my first son was about to be born. i got your back ladies. let me know anytime you need me I'll be here. You are all special and we are all familly now.

I love that saying, too! :) The past year has been a rough one for us, and sayings such as that one reminded me that you have to keep looking forward...take the good with the bad...and know that the "good stuff" wouldn't seem nearly as good without the "bad stuff"!! I signed up for daily motivational sayings from "The Universe" http://www.tut.com/resources/notes/ ...they really do help me through the days sometimes!

I'm sure we'll be able to touch base at some point. :)

My SR LOVES Taco Bell...so I'm sure he'll be celebrating with that, too! He requested his laptop, kindle, phone, and ipod....haha! He also asked for me to bring a pair of comfy clothes for hanging out in the hotel room. Mostly electronics, though. Boys boys boys. :)

My SR has only requested decent underwear..... (how's that RDC???? wink)

I'm planning on sending her laptop, phone, and Ipod too. I got this very cool organizational backpack from Office Depot yesterday. I spent way too much money on it, but I figure if that's what she'll be carrying when she travels- and that will start happening frequently- then she'll get good use out of it an it''ll be worth it. It has so many great compartments to keep things organized and I don't have to 'color' anything!

I hope all of our SRs will be able to help each other out and lift each other up during A School. From what I've read, it can get intense too. I read on the A School board of some sailors wishing they were at boot camp!

I don't know about the ribbons either. don't feel bad.
No, Kitty. If  you don't have one, you won' t embarass her. She won't know anything about them. Lala makes ribbons with your SRs name on one side, the division on the other. They are for you to wear- many wear them to the Meet and Greet and can spot those who've been on N4M. Gnomes just made a very good post about them on the PIR board just a few seconds ago. Go and read it. Also, dianne commented on it too.
You know, it will be so hard to address each other in real life by our REAL names...haha. :) It's so funny that I'm called gnomes, and you teach...I don't think I'll be able to call you by your real name!!
hello, I think that our sailors will continue to lift each other up through the end of bc and then through A school. No one ever said that Military life would be easy. It will always be a challenge of some sort. With strength in God and each other, they will concour it together. I look forward to traveling through A school with all of you as well. We are family now.
Amen, papercrafter!! :)
