Good Morning! I've been reading everyone's responses and agree that it is a normal phase they need to go through to get a mind set to go. My son has changed alot these last 2 weeks though. He is wanting to hang out with us again and has been very sweet. We pretty much finished his room...packing and sorting and today going to go get a few last minute things then eat with his grandparents. I think the main thing is like all of you said let remarks roll off of you and stay positive. They are going to need that from us I think.

By the way, Ellebee and Midwest Mom, what do you wear to MEPS for swearing in? Would my Proud Navy Mom be over the top?

Hey ElleBee, Thanks for the info. We had been told too about him wearing a plain shirt so not to stand out. I guess that is the beginning of the mind games right? Anyway, the recruiter was vague on what time to be at MEPS station. He said my son would be there at 6:00  but we didn't need to be there until 10:00 but I am afraid that might be too late. What time did you get there the last time?
Yes that was what I was thinking. I may try to ask when I get there. Planning on being at his recruiters around 10:00am then leaving from there to go to hotel for his check in. I'm running around the house not really doing anything. He is on computer so giving him his space. He is wanting sushi so I think we are going for lunch. We are trying to get all his favorite foods in because boy he loves to eat! :.)  I hope the Navy is prepared for him!
Well the sushi was a hit! Now we have steak on the menu for tomorrow. My husband bought him a cowboy steak. Wow it's big! If it eats it all I'll be impressed!
I just joined N4Ms like three days ago I knew about this site b4 my son actually swore in. I should have joined months ago  I feel as though you guys have taken pages from my heart and life and wrote it down. My son leaves June 7th as well. Many of the feelings and thoughts and things that have been written about. I have or am experiencing like the Anchors Aweigh party to the sailors Bible to the distancing of family. I was so worried that he was leaving us but now I see he is just going through the process like us. I will definitely stay connected through this whole process thanks
My son is leaving June 7th. :)
Welcome to our group theraysmom!
theraysmom - that's exactly how I felt when I found N4M.  I would be lost without it and these wonderful ladies.  Welcome.
Thanks for the welcomes. It is getting so close I just feel like there isn't enough time. I want him to go because that is his choice but I can't imagine day to day without him. I try not to think about him being gone. Then I see his dog, only listening to him or him showing me how to use the computer or doing it for me because it is just easier for him to do it lol. I am down to counting hours 38 to be exact. We are taking a few minutes in our church service for him tomorrow  but other wise it is a moment by moment plan for what he wants to do. I am sad that he wants us to leave him at the recruiters office and not go to the hotel but I guess it is the way he wants it. On the other hand I am seeing him mature before my eyes he is already changing but I guess that is what the Navy does. I am already so proud
Well don't feel bad. I think if my son really had his way we may not be going. He just didn't want to stick out at his age being the only one with parents there. I think he only felt better about it when I talked to his recruiter. We live so far away too and I really think they clincher is he didn't want to ride the bus! :.)
welcome raysmom !!!!! you will love this site everyone is so helpful and great!!!....m,y son leaves on the 13th and we are scrambling also ( or shall i say me lol) dont feel bad my son doesnt want me to go to hotel or anything either i know how u feel he wants to be dropped off at recruits also and say our "laters" lol stay strong and good luck. :)...question can you send more that $5 when u send off to navy federal?  does anyone know? we had our bye bye party for my son yesterday and it was great so much support from his family makes a mothers heart proud.
You can send any amount that you want, $5.00 is the minimum balance according to Federal Credit Union Rules. That's true with all credit unions. Once a member, always a member as long as you leave $5.00 in the account.
