My computer hasn't been "replying" just right on FB or here, so sorry I haven't gotten back to you!

We would LOVE to meet you!  We driving up Wed so we'll be available.  Husband wanted to make the drive in 1 long trek then rest a little, explore and sight see a little on Thursday.  I definitely want to get to the meet & greet Thurs night.  Not sure how we would have all made it through these weeks w/o one another.  Can't believe it's almost OVER!!!! Still have your number.  Give us a call when you get in since we'll already be there. SOON!

Wow that will be a long drive! I am so excited I can hardly stand it. Just think Battle Stations a week from today.I know they all will do good!

I always tell my SR to take care of your SR when I write.  Guess it is the Mama in me too. I have two daughters.

You guys be careful driving.

Jackpot!  Just received two letters from my SR.  It's a great birthday present.  The first one is dated 6/2 and he said that the division had just had their drill inspection and second test. They all did well considering how many are sick.  My SR is one of the ones down with the "ricky crud".  He's taking Mucinex and wearing a mask to keep from infecting his shipmates.  He asked for prayer for his friend "J" who is out for six weeks with stress fractures in his heel.  He was still looking forward to their final drill inspection, third written test, final physical assessment, firefighting, and the gas chamber.  (Some of these they should have had this week.)  The second letter is undated, but after the first.  He mentions feeling better.  They received the rest of their uniforms and have been spending alot of time going over how to fold, stow and wear them for inspection.  He says that the dress blues are interesting because the are styled after old-fashioned sailor uniforms, itch and are time consuming.  Not at all like what his dad got to wear in the early eighties.  The Navy service uniform is "nice and practical".  The dress whites, however, are awesome.  Although he does mention the urge to do a few disco moves every time that he dons it.  :-)

Got two letters today t. I wish my SR liked his "whites" He likes the blue fatigues, calls the whites his "Popeye suit". But I told him to be proud of them because he worked hard for them.

He said they "had their drill inspection and passed with such flying colors, we won another flag!! We were marching so well the RDCs & the Inspectors were laughing with each other half way to Pacfleet Drill Hall. We marched & lined up perfectly @ 'HALT for the first time and did it when it counted."

He is so upbeat.  One of the guys in their division got assigned to the USS Constitution and only two guys a year from all of RTC are assigned to it each year.  He said and he "is from our division!"  Love it that they are proud for each other.

Soon, Ladies, soon!

No letter for me today ;.(  I was really hoping for one.  Even though I didn't receive a letter I know that one week from today I will be there!!!  I can't wait!!  Looking forward to meeting you all!  Take care, we're almost there!!

Do you know what it means to be assigned to the USS Constitution? That's awesome that they won another flag. that is funny that he isn't crazy about the whites...cracker jacks.  Usually the sailors like them, I personally have other opinion, but I am sure with him being older it feels quite different to be in that kind of uniform.  I know some of the navy retirees where I work ( I am a civilian with Dept of Navy in Jacksonville) didn't like the new cami blue uniforms...they like the old ones. I like them myself and think they look good.

That is funny about the marching. My son told me they weren't very good at it when they started learning to do it for graduation..I told him it just needs practice and sure enough....!

@Janetop the USS Constitution sits in the harbor at the end of the Freedom Trail in Boston.  It is the world's oldest floating commissioned naval vessel. The 60 officers & crew participate in ceremonies & educational programs. The assignment is considered special duty.

Thank you for sharing! No letter for us today. Hope our SR didn't have ricky crud so badly that he couldn't write. Odds are, he just didn't get around to it. I know him pretty well!
Kris'smom & fa, thanks SO much for sharing your letters! What great news from OUR division. So proud of them! Poor J. I hate he won't PIR with the rest of the div. Love the drill accomplishments. No letter from my SR either, Cathy. Hope he's just being himself with being otherwise occupied and not feeling lousy from ricky crud. I'm going to count on that he's too distracted by what there is to do here at the end. : ) And he would rather socialize any day as opposed to writing. : ) I can't tell you how thankful I am that he is still at Great Lakes - I can handle not hearing from him today! Yes, Cathy - 1 week! Can't wait to meet you all. Have a great Friday! I'm about giddy just hearing your letters!!!!
Just one more comment, I tried to delete the 1st comment, but it won't go away. So challenged, so just ignore my redundancy. : )
