jfutty, you are leaving the same day as my son Andrew, be strong, stay focused, and remember there are alot of people thinking of you, I will be sending prayers every night! mom4life

Thank you-and good luck to you and your husband as well. I'm sure our paths will be crossing very soon.

Good-luck to Weston and please enjoy every moment you have left with him! My son just took me to lunch at "tgif" and payed!!! Maybe he's starting to mature before he leaves on the 14th of june. (ha ha)
ElleBee, You are right they do have there own way of coming around but it is amazing when it finally happens!!
My son just called from the hotel.  He sounds good.  He thanked me for honoring his wish that we not go to MEPS.  He says it is easier for hiim that way and now he can call and ask me questions or just talk until he has to go.  His girlfriend is going to pick him up and take him to dinner so they can say their goodbyes.  I keep reminding him that this is only two months then he can be in contact just like he could at school.  I am so proud of how he is handling this.

I think I've got everyone added.  Please check the calendar and let me know if you aren't on there.  WOW!  We've had a lot of activity on this site!  I always try to check in at least once a day, but you gals are hard to keep up with.  :)

So happy that this is going better than expected for you, Sam's Mom.  You'll have some down and sad times, but doesn't it make you feel good when they are focused on getting this started and we can talk to them without breaking down?!?  My son texted quite a few during his hours at O'Hare and talked to us a couple times before he was loaded up to go to GL.  Hope you get 'the call' earlier rather than later!

Yes MidwestMom - i think I have matured as much as him the last few months - don't tell him thatI
This site has meant the difference to me.  I can't imagine what I would be like if I didn't have the knowledge that has been shared on this site.  And the friendships!  The only bad thing about my son leaving early is that I'll probably never get to meet any of you face to face.  If any of your SR/DEPs are going to Pensacola for A-school, maybe we can join together on that site in a few months.  I booked rooms at the Navy Lodge there for Thanksgiving!
ElleBee, when you are in the Navy, you are never alone.  Your hubby is going to have so many new Best Friends all vying for a spot at your table on that day.  You may have a bigger family than ever...just not a very helpful one.  Make sure they at least do dishes.  :)  Two years ago we drove to Maine to see one of my husband's buddies and he's been out for 25 years.  You make some really tight friendships.

Security reminder - Never write your last name on this site...anywhere!  It is a public site and is considered a violation.  To keep yourself and your sailor's safe, the only safe way to exchange last names, e-mail addresses with your name, phone numbers, etc., is by private messaging one another.  Never post last names on each others pages.  Just trying to keep you all safe (and not have the 'powers that be' scream at you).  :)

If you've posted your last name on someone's page, you should be able to go there and click on the 'x' in the upper right of your posting and delete it.  I deleted the job my SR has at boot camp because I knew it identified exactly who his mom is on N4M.

Hello Everyone! I haven't got to go back and read everyone's post the last 2 days but I will definately get to it. I just wanted to let you know how the last 2 days went. We went to see my son's recruiter last Thursday to meet him and ask questions which I am glad I did. That is when we found out that I could run him by there then drive him the 2 1/2 hours to the MEPS in TN. I also found out too late that had I called the hotel I could not get the military rate but that he could have stayed in our room. He was okay with that and probably for the best as he had to get up at 4:00am this morning eat and get on the bus. He was at MEPS 2 1/2 hours before we got there at 8:30am. That was a perfect time because the recruiter couldn't tell us when he would be sworn in and it so happened he got sworn in at 9:00am. They were very nice. At the time there was only 3 including my son and we got to go in and make pics from front next to one swearing them in and the back. Also got to make pics when he was signing. Then we were allowed to sit with him while he ate then until he got in van to leave. There was alot of sitting around and waiting for sure but I'm glad we were able to go.
Wow! While I was typing this message my son called for the last time. They seem to be ahead of schedule as his recruiter told me to expect the call around 1:00am. He also had been told that the bus wouldn't be there to pick him up today until 11:00pm but they came at 7:30pm instead. Good for him..maybe he will get to sleep before the expected time of 8:00pm tomorrow. My husband has been our comic relief as he has told jokes and done funny things that have kept both my son and my spirits up. He had an exploding egg this morning that went all over him...we are still chuckling over that one.  My son sounded great but spoke I think verbatim what they tell them to say, get the box and form letter in 2 weeks and maybe a call in 3. I told him again how proud I am of him. Last nite was hard especially dropping him off at the hotel but I feel at peace this evening. I know he is where he is suppose to be and all I can do now is pray that God will keep him safe.
