While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Corpsman A School- Anyone from this group's SRs going?
I didn't hear from my SR any word on her A school orders. She'll be going to corpsman training. Her recruiter told her she'd go to GL (even though a few weeks before she left, he told her it might be San Antonio). I'm hearing thru N4M, that they're sending all corpsman to SA now. Either way- does anyone know how long we'll have with our SRs after PIR?
Besides that, I thought a discussion group of us with corpsman can share any info we get on that anyway. Come join in!

Hey gnome, were you there at O'Hare this morning. I was so tired, could hardly keep my eyes open. I hope all went well for you. I thought about your "bad news" moment and hoped that it went well. I did see yenni at the airport. THAT was so touching.
I got a call from my sailor about an hour ago letting me know that they had arrived in San Antonio safely. They were just getting on the bus. :)

That's odd...I guess the Corpsmen went in two separate groups then. My husband's flight leaves at 6:30 tomorrow AM, and there are about 14 other guys going with him that will be going to A-School in SA to be Corpsmen. So, to answer your question, nope, I wasn't at O'Hare.
Thank you for thinking of me...Matt's grandpa passed away on the 28th and he was close to him. Telling him was so easy and he responded very positively, happy that he was not in any pain and that he lived a very long and full life. He's so positive! I was so stressed and emotional. What took me two weeks to get over took him two minutes! I was stressed about telling him...but everything went well.
I'm happy your SAILOR arrived in SA safely! Maybe I'll see you there in the fall? :) How funny would that be?!?!
Well, I need to wake up at 1 to drive to Midway, so I'm going to catch a few hours' sleep.

Hm...that is odd. There were actually two groups that left O'Hare this morning. One at 6 and then the next at 6:40. Wonder how they split them all up? Glad you got more time with yours. I really wished that I could have met him and spent more time with both of you. :)
Really, it worked out okay that mine left earlier. I really hadn't felt good and getting some sleep today was a fabulous thing.
I know he wants us to come to Texas, but I will have to find a way to pick up some extra work or something if I want to do that. Drained my savings to make this trip.
I'm so glad that your sweet hubby took the news all right. Whew! Reminds me of a magnet my mom had once. It said, "You can't tell me worrying doesn't work. The things I worry about never happen." :) Ha ha!
I thought of you again when we first spotted our sailor because my first thought was so overwhelmingly, "Oh my gosh! He is so handsome!" Just like you said when you first opened the pictures of your husband. :) (BTW, I thought that was so touching. I'm so glad that you are so in love!
By the time you read this, you will have already sent your sailor off to Texas, so I pray that it went well. :)

God is so good. :) emotional morning at the airport, but I treasure every second I was able to spend with him. It's like He was smiling down on us to have so much time together! He's beyond amazing.
I wish I could have spent more time with you as well...who knows what the future holds! :) -

Ladies,
Thought about you a lot this weekend. I had a wonderful time with my son. I wish I could have been at the meet & greet to meet you all, but it just wouldn't work. We were able to go see our son off at O'Hare and see him and 7 of his shipmates get bumped up into first class seating, also a sendoff of applause by the other passengers waiting to board the same plane. VERY EMOTIONAL!
We are now starting to plan our trip to SA to visit him this summer. I can't wait to spend more time with him. It is so nice for him to have his cell phone and us be able to talk to each other everyday.
Thought for the day " Our being cheerful givers delights God - and brings delight to us"

Gnome ~ my tears haven't slowed down much & I'm home. But then I am exhausted too. It is so special to hear that applause. Ty said they got it in Atlanta too.

G Mom, were you at O'Hare on Saturday morning? We were there too. My son left in the 6:40 group.
My tears stop until I remember something. Then they start again. Did you read KimT's post on the main thread. Oh my. That got me going again.

Girlsyk ~ yes we were at O'Hare Sat am. my son left in the 6am group. After we left O'Hare we spent the day sightseeing and every so often I would think about him and start crying, my daughter had my camera and took lots of pictures of me being emotional. It is so nice to be able to talk to him quite a bit now. Although he forgot the two hour time difference & texted me at 4:15 this morning. It is unfortunate that we didn't get to meet. I have so enjoyed getting to know you all here. I think I will get a shirt made that says "G Mom" start wearing it when I'm on any base and then if you see me you will know who I am. LOL.
I know what your saying about stopping the crying and then think of something or do something or he texts me and tells me he misses my cooking and I start crying all over again. The Flight attendant asked us who was serving yesterday(I was wearing my Navy sweats) I managed to tell her, she said "tell him thank you" and then cried until the plane took off and I fell asleep. Everytime I would see her I would start tearing up. I know it will get easier as the week goes on and I get rested, but right now I am looking forward to our trip to SA in July ;)

Hi everyone!! Whew what a emotional crazy weekend! Its been wonderful talking to my husband so much on the phone though..makes me wonder how I made it through 8 weeks with only 3 phone calls.. Sounds like his class is 175..anyone else? I'm super anxious to hear more about their schedule over the next many weeks and have them get started on classes.

Emotional crazy indeed! I love hearing my husband's voice every night. :) I feel so spoiled now! Even though these are good changes, they're still changes so I'm struggling a bit. PIR was amazing!!! So happy we all made it. :)
I don't know his class yet...would love to know more info as well! Once I find out his class I'll start a new group for that (if there isn't already one). :) I can't wait to see him...will visit him in July. Woohoo!
