Just got the box - exactly as I knew it would be because of the wonderful information on N4M.  Now waiting for the letter - I can't wait much longer to start making my plans for PIR.  I think the Navy should take us Moms into account and just call each and every one of us as soon as they get our recruit! lol

lol nan i feel same way congrats keep us informed
Oh ElleBee I am so sorry your son is taking it so hard. We forget that little ones don't understand what is going on. You are doing the right thing and those little ones will keep you busy! I have started to write my son based on the address his recruiter gave me Monday. I'll let you know if it was right or not! :.)  Still haven't gotten the form letter but it helps to know I am trying to send out a letter.  I will be thinking of you and praying for your little ones.

ElleBee,

i have my 3 year old grandson with me while my middle daughter is on a 7 month deployment.  she was scared he'd forget her or freak out.  he knows mommy is at work on a big boat but doesn't really understand 7 months (at that age it could be 7 minutes, 7 hours or 7 years).  what i have done is put pictures everywhere for him to look at.  i have 3 digital picture frames and he will lay there and look at them and call out who each person is, mostly it's him and mommy but other family members also.

when he starts having a mini meltdown (they aren't often) i just tell him to color a picture for mommy so we can send it to her or i take pictures and tell him to wave to mommy, blow mommy kisses, etc.  or make a video.

i know there is an age difference but some of these things might help your little man.

my promise to my kids...I am your friend...I am your parent....I will stalk you, and flip out on you, lecture you, drive you insane....I will even be y our worst nightmare (at times) I will even hunt you down like a bloodhound when needed because i love you!!!! When you understand that, I know you are a responsible adult. You will never someone who loves, cares, prays and worries about you like I do....There is nothing like a mothers love.....................................i had this posted to me on facebook from a friend and thought about sharing hope yall dont think i am too sappy lol

No I don't bobbijk1971!  You should have seen me driving like a maniac Monday evening to the post office to get my first letter off! No quarterback has anything on me! :.)

lol i hear ya .... i live near a post office lol is so great isnt it almost like we are going thru it also lol

ElleBee that breaks my heart, poor little guy he's just old enough to understand. You made the best decision.

We just dropped my son off at the hotel 2 hours ago. It was a rough day. I was fine until someone would ask me how I was holding up. All of his friends came over throughout the day. When his best buddy, a 6'1 250 lb man loses his composure and walks home down the street crying, it's a tough pill to swallow.

In the car on the way there he told us he was so pumped and that he was living his dreams-how can you not be ok when your child tells you that?

We're having our neighbors over tonight for some leftover beer and wine and food, preparing for his swearing-in tomorrow. I think I'm going to be ok ladies...thanks to all of you.

I'll be thinking of you too monkeymind. Lisarobin
we are moms we are strong the pride is great and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family also

Ok, I was doing well till I read all of your posts tonight - now I'm crying like a baby. Had to take the laptop into the kitchen so my husband would stop asking me what is wrong.

monkeymind your description of the buddy and ElleBee your little boy are both heartbreaking. I know it will get better and they will be proud with time.

Then bobbijk1971 I read your post about your promise to your children and I just had to laugh - it says it all.

nan u are so right lol
