Okay ladies, I'm using this as a starting point. My SR is over half way done with bootcamp...and in all my day dreaming, I'm thinking about the future. So, he is going to A-school in San Antonio...how do I find out more information about A-School and what happens after that....you know...in case I'd ever like to plan a wedding or something! :)

For him to be able to leave base it has to be phase 2, for him to be able to leave base and stay the night with you it has to be phase 3. My boyfriend is in PCola and it took him about 3 weeks to have phase 2, and 4 weeks for phase 3.

How long is his A school and what is his rate and rank??

how long does it take to phase up, can i get married when he is in school in great lakes cause it goes through Christmas would he be able to come home and get married
i like in Florida and so does he

I know that places like pensacola it takes a while for sailors to phase up, and I think San Antonio it takes a while also, but I'm not sure. In GL there are only two phases, and they can be a Phase two in about 2 weeks.

If he is in A school during christmas he *may* get to request leave, but I'm not sure how that works. Generally they can't go home during school.

oh tru, how am i supposed to get married then
He would have to file a chit and get permission then you would have to go to wherever his school is and get married there. Either that or wait until he is done with school and get married then, but if you do that you won't be on his orders. I have no clue how long it would take to get on his orders if you got married after school.
but i want to get married here. so that wont happen
could he get a chit now and do it

Is he in A school now or still at BC? He has to wait until he is in A school (or whatever school he is going to before A school) to file the chit.

He could file a chit asking for leave to go get married, but its very hard to get leave from school. Normally the only times it is approved is for family emergencies / to move dependents. It is worth a try, but I would not get your hopes up on him being allowed to come home to get married.

Your best bet would be having a small ceremony at great lakes, or even simply go to the court house here, and then having a big wedding after he is done with school.

he is still at BC, oh ok have a small wedding in great lakes when he is in school? and i definitively don't want to do court house my friend did tht and she never had a chance to have a big wedding.
I had a court house wedding and now we are planing a big wedding on a Disney cruise!!

I'm not sure if he can go ahead and start that chit. I don't see why not.

You might have to go to the JOP in IL when you visit him. That is always an option. Lots of couples do this and then have a big wedding later. He really needs to SAVE his leave (they earn 2.5 a month) for a time when he can and is encouraged to come home.
