OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

A-School Questions?! Help!

Okay ladies, I'm using this as a starting point. My SR is over half way done with bootcamp...and in all my day dreaming, I'm thinking about the future. So, he is going to A-school in San Antonio...how do I find out more information about A-School and what happens after that....you know...in case I'd ever like to plan a wedding or something! :)

Even if he deploys right after school, he should get time to come home on leave for a few days before that.

Another reason why it is hard for you to plan things right now is the time it will take him to class up. When they arrive at their A school, that isn't necessarily when they start their classes. They could wait for months. Be prepared for that. Some only take a week. It just depends on how many sailors they have that are going for the some rate, to make a class (about 30 people).

And yes, it does suck! :\ Hurry up and wait is what they say. But it's difficult for us at home trying to plan things...almost impossible. :\

They will NOT update the orders to include a newly acquired dependent. If they did, there would be none of this discussion about marrying before A school ends. Once those orders are issued, they are not changed unless someone makes or has made a mistake. Now and then you will hear otherwise, but are you willing to risk it?

They cannot take leave to fly home unless it is the Christmas stand down. School commands close, the students all get to take leave and go home. Otherwise, the bride has to go to where the sailor is to marry, he cannot go home to her. You might have to choose between a white wedding day and an entire marriage. Your choice. And your sailor of course.

I was thinking much more positivly about getting married before I read all this I am a huge planer. But I don't mind a small wedding all that matters to me is that I get to be his wife. My guy is in A school now and supose to grad in early sept. Then who know we were gonna wait till next year to get married but Idk if I wanna lol I wanna be on his orders I can't stand the idea of him being over seas. I am glad I learned new things but every time I learn more about the navy and how lil I get to know the more frustrated I get.

Your best best is getting married at a court house while he is in A school.
Have him find out when he gets to his A school what their policy on marriage is. He will probably need to be phase 2 first. Once he is phase two have him fill out a chit and do whatever else he needs to do. Once he gets his chit approved find out where there is to get married around him, you will most likely need to make an appointment ahead of time. Sometimes there is also a 3 day wait before you can get married after applying for a marriage license, find all that out before hand. Then, once you have everything figured out and know he is allowed and what the rules are, I would see if he has a duty free weekend coming up, and get married on a friday and spend saturday and sunday together! That way you are FOR SURE on his orders.

i have to get married in a court house, yeah i think its 3 days, so i would have to do it during his school phase 2 to be on his orders. so i can go with him
