Ladies, we are going to Africa! These kids are a group of Seabees (NMCB 74 DET 11). They have been away from home since November and they have missed the holidays back home. Sooooo, we are going to give them what they have been missing. Christmas, New Years, Ground Hog, Valentines, St Patricks, April Fools, Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Independence Day and Birthdays and any other holiday that we can think of. We can send them decorations for each holiday. Maybe some of the packing parties can adopt a holiday and go all out!

They live in Clu's which are connex boxes molded into rooms. They would love pillowcases so lets see about getting them a little bit of home for their rooms. They have microwaves, fridge and freezer access.  They can get most of what they need from their NEX.  Two things they would love… energy drinks and toothpaste other than Colgate! (the only brand they can get)  They say they really do not 'need' anything. They would love to have cards and letters, so lets get them cards and letters from each of the holidays that they have missed.

It is very, very hot there and it is 110 to 120 degrees. So lets try to get them some neck coolers and some freeze pops and maybe some of those hand held mist fans would be something to help ease the heat.

There are 150 with the breakdown of 130 males and 20 females.

We will be mailing June 23 thru the 28th!

Thanks Carol!

When are we shipping to them?  I know it must be mentioned above - but I've forgotten (or didn't see it).

I don't know if I had given a date Brenda, my bad! lol  We want them to get it by the 4th of July and it only takes about a week for them to get their mail. I will say we can start mailing on the 23rd and that will give them time to get them but no later than the 28th.
Thanks!  I've got 150 "cooling ties" boxed and ready to go.  I am also sending a few other items (wet ones, water bottles, etc.)
Thanks Brenda! You ROCK!!!!
OMG...  I started digging thru my stash for upcoming holidays... found a bunch of St. Patty's hats, necklaces, decorations, etc...  also plastic easter eggs... will have my niece help me stuff them with candy so they can have an easter egg hunt!!

Susan - I have eggs too!!  Will count to see how many - also sending other Easter stuff.

That is awesome Ladies!!! They will have a blast!!

I went to Party Galaxy and the Dollar Tree today and found some water cannons and lots of 4th of July things. I need to go through my Christmas stuff to see what I have.

I got beads, hand held fans, paddle balls, tattoos, and Tootsie Roll Pops, and some other items, all patriotic!

I need to get busy on some pillowcases to make sure they all get one.

Susan - I came up with 62 eggs, not including the ones that I put in the Easter baskets.

Lauren, only 2 babies were born. The POC confirmed it with the Yeoman.

She said the mailing date would be fine and that she let the Yeoman know and they will have plenty of help getting the mail to them. She called us the 'real heros'   Bless her heart!!! She had even said she would donate to help us send to her people!

Kim can you tell me boy or girl?

thanks
