DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Did you start a group yet on here? I just had a blog but I will figure out how to form a group if you aren't doing it. Don't want to create two of them! Let me know. Thanks:)
I agree with NancyJo, write, write, write, it will help the time pass for you. Find a way to keep yourself busy so you're not always just sitting there thinking of him. I know it's a hard thing to do. I have two kids 9 and just turned 2 yesterday, so they have definitely helped to keep mommy occupied.
I understand what you mean that it still feels like he's at work. Hubby worked a graveyard shift so I was used to him being gone at night. The whole sleeping alone thing I've been used to for quite sometime. The not being able to just call or text him during the night has been hard.
What to expect, in a couple of days that box will be sent with all of his stuff. Whether it goes to you or to another family member is up to what address he puts on it. A couple days more and the form letter shows up, again to the address he sends it to. This has the information about his address and graduation date. I had gotten hubby's address from the recruiter a couple days before so I sent out a "test" letter in case the address changed or was inaccurate. The day we got the form letter I sent the other 16 that were awaiting an address. He said he received the test letter one day and then 14 the next. One has been put in the mail every day since, if not more. I try to make him feel as separated from home as I can. His letters have a recap of our day here as well as encouragement to push him along. They live for mail call, so no matter what you send, he will cherish.
I finally received a phone call last Wednesday, exactly four weeks in. It gets easier and at the same time it's just as hard. Just take it day by day, that's how he's doing it. It's been going by a little faster than I thought. July 1 is just a little over 3 weeks away. July 29 or August 5 may be your lucky day when you get to see your official Sailor again.
Hi,
I was at the game because my son was also sworn in at the game. I got a lot of pictures of the guys as they were walking out before they got sworn in. I'll send them to you if you like, maybe your boyfriend was in one of them. : ) Hang in there, it was late when my son called, about 11pm central time, he said I'm here, I'm safe and I'll call you in a couple of weeks. I'll send those pictures tonight if you like.
Take care and keep in touch.
Shawna
Mom of a sailor.
