DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

sitting in the hampton inn in richmond, getting ready to go to supper, my daughter leaves in the am.  going to MEPS to watch her swear in.

Again, I just posted on the mainpage. We just got home from Shreveport. It was a good 2 days. Last night at dinner we laughed so much. At the hotel the boys got into a wrestling match. I was afraid my recruit would get hurt right before time to leave. LOL! It was a long day of waiting. Thank goodness they had movies playing in the lounge area. I didn't cry. I felt that heaviness in my chest and tightness in my throat, but no tears! He made friends with some of the kids and his roomie at the hotel. I'm so glad he is with some other kids that are all going to GL! His last words to me while he was hugging me goodbye was "It's only 8 weeks, Mom."

So glad to see that everyone is getting their letters and boxes. I know you are all relieved. For those of you that are headed to MEPS...it wasn't too bad! I'm actually excited for the next stage! My son did so good and he really does make me so proud. It's hard to cry when you are feeling so good! :) Of course, tomorrow is another day...LOL!

I'll be praying for everyone to have the comfort that I'm feeling!

cindylaine me too lol gotta love hthem lol

And so today was the day.  Just dropped her off at the hotel after a day of good food, last minute errands and a couple of beers.  I dont know how I could be any sadder.  Yes, I know it will get better.  But at this moment in time it just sucks.  And yet I am so excited for her.  What a world of opportunity and adventure has now begun for her.

:-) and :-(

we're here at the hotel with my sailor.  had a big family supper at ruby tuesdays and now hanging in our room, she has to be in her room by 11 and the bus leaves at 5:40 am

Good luck to you BonnieRN & Duhhuh.  It'll seem like a long 7-10 days, but hopefully you'll get your addresses soon and will be able to get those first letters in the mail.  It's a tough week, but you will make it!
