My son leaves for GL on 8/8 and I am excited, proud, nervous, a bit sad and much more! Lots of emotions! He has been a DEPper since early November, so I should be ready... but not really!

He is in for 6 yrs because he is going to be a nuke. He says he wants to make a career of the Navy. Time wll tell.

I have 4 kids... a married son (lives close by), a daughter 22 (in college and moving out next month ~finally), my DEP son- 18, and my baby~ almost 15 yr old son.

With my daughter and my Navy boy leaving soon I am going to have a near empty nest, after YEARS of having a full, noisy house. I also hate autumn, so I am thinking I need to be VERY busy when that time comes. Life is about changes. I know that, but it sure is bittersweet to let your babies grow up!

So, how are you gals doing?

hey everyone, yes August is coming up fast!  Mine leaves 8/23. He has been a DEPPer since early November also.  Yes it's been so busy since his HS graduation end of May.  Trying to do too many things before he is off to BC.  We are going to Chicago next weekend for vacation and the one thing he mentioned he wanted to do was go to the NAVY Museum. i thoughts that was awesome.  So, that is on our agenda along with other fun things.  He has been at Country Fest since Wed and won't be home until Sunday,  then another family graduation, trying to get a camping trip in...not sure there will be enough time...  Good luck all and we'll talk soon :) Laura
hi my son leave same as your son...823 ...good luck i guess we will meet soon...:),,n yes we spending as much tiome together,,

Yoli~ Hope you are doing well. I am trying to stay positive

and remember that this is a great thing for my son, but my heart

aches at the thought of letting him go.

Philly5~ It's cool that you guys are vactioning in Chicago. My son

is there this week on a mission/choir trip.

Hope you have a good time and enjoy your time together!

Hey Kimberly!!! I think we are all right there with ya!!!! Im finding as each day passes I shed a few more tears!!! My son tells me he knows I will cry just try not to do the ugly cry!!! At least we have each other to help us get thru it!!! Try and hang in there and we will be here when u need us!!!
My son is going in as a MM (machinist mate) he goes in aug 16th. Im exactly the same way...very proud and excited for him but its so hard to let go!!!
My daughter leaves 8/15 and the countdown has begun. We had a loss in the family this morning so emotions of the fact that my dad won't see her become a sailor and succeed and this wonderful opportunity are there. He would have been so proud. But very thankful that he passed before she left so she doesn't have that thought lingering in her mind while at boot camp.
Cindy I am so sorry for your loss!! Your daughter will be leaving with my son and it sure is getting close!!! Please know that I'm here if you need someone to talk or type to. My prayers will be with ur family!!!
Thank you! I can't believe that it is 4 weeks now. If she would have been sworn in on the first time she was at MEPS, she would be leaving tomorrow. So very thankful I get another 4 weeks with her.

Cindy~ I offer my heartfelt condolences. ♥

~Dale

Thank you! It was actually a blessing that he passed. Now she has an angel guiding and protecting her everyday.

Mooselover, My sympathies to your family.... we are in the same situation.  My son leaves 8/15 and my father has been ill for a couple of years and keeps going down hill.  At some point it would be a blessing for his suffering, but not seeing Brandon graduate from boot camp will be so sad.  He did see him graduate from High school last week.  My heart is heavy with sadness about him leaving.... I try not to let him see me cry!!!
