Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

SHIP 10 DIV 265 PIR 19AUG11

I just got the letter today! So I am very excited, and just know that the next 8 weeks are going to fly by, particulary since now I need to save up some $ to get back to PIR (which I will not miss for anything!)  I am curious if my SR will be able to be away from base overnight, or only during the days on the weekend following PIR. Does anyone know?

Kathyann, no SR's can not leave base over night.  If your SR is not a grad n go, they will have to be back to base probably between 6:00pm and 8:00pm.  If  your SR leaves Saturday AM they are usually taken to the airport around 1:00 AM.  You can meet them at the airport and wait with them until there flight leaves.  You will have to be with them to get a gate pass.  At the airport you can also give them there cell phone and laptop computers.  They must be in a plain black backpack.  Around the 4th week your SR is there they should find out if they are a grad n go, or if they have time to spend with you after PIR.

Thanks for the reply elizabeth. As it stands now, since he went in undesignated (Pac Seaman), he will be doing his A school at Great Lakes. So it sounds like we will get to spend some time with him :)

Kathyann, that's great.  You will definitely get to spend some time with him, I know I saw a post somewhere about time allowed for those staying in Great Lakes, but I can't remember where I saw it. Sorry.

If they are grad-n-go, then most likely he won't have time to spend with you much after PIR, but if he has school in Great Lakes, they might let him go over night all weekend. There are restrictions when that happens, but it is nice and fun! I hope that is the case for you.

Hi kathyann, what day did your SR leave for boot camp?  My daughter left earlier this week so I'm still waiting to hear.   I think her PIR will be August 26.

He left on 6/22. So you are probably right. I was actually told not to expect the letter for two weeks, but he went in on the 22nd and mailed the letter the 28th.  Your's should be coming soon!

I am definitely looking forward to it!  It has been harder than I expected to be out of touch with her.  I just keep reminding myself that she is probably safer than anywhere else right now, and as hard as it is for me it is much harder for her!  Thanks!

Hey Ladies, my son got to RTC on the 24th so hopefully I will get my letter or "the box" soon..which came first box or letter... sooo anxious to get SOMETHING...LOL

Boy in a Box (minus the boy) first, then the letter. Only exception is if your son decided to "donate" his belongings rather than ship them. The shipping cost comes out of their first check.

I have been following N4M for several months now even though my daughter just left this week, on the 28th.  FedEx just brought the box to me though, I was so surprised to get it - within three days!??!  They must really be efficient right now at the RTC!

Hello Ladies!

I finally got my form letter! My son is Ship 10/Div 265! Hoo-YAH!

I'm so excited to finally know what is going on! I just needed that little bit of information to keep me going!

Just to let you know, My son left on 6/21 was delayed due to weather and arrived 6/22. I got his box on 6/27. He mailed his form letter on 6/28 and I got it today on 7/2. And his PIR is 8/19.

When you look at it like this, it doesn't seem that long. But it seemed like an eternity for me!

My son said he was doing fine and having a blast. It is such a relief to read those words!
