Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

So, August moms~ How are you doing?
My son leaves for GL on 8/8 and I am excited, proud, nervous, a bit sad and much more! Lots of emotions! He has been a DEPper since early November, so I should be ready... but not really!
He is in for 6 yrs because he is going to be a nuke. He says he wants to make a career of the Navy. Time wll tell.
I have 4 kids... a married son (lives close by), a daughter 22 (in college and moving out next month ~finally), my DEP son- 18, and my baby~ almost 15 yr old son.
With my daughter and my Navy boy leaving soon I am going to have a near empty nest, after YEARS of having a full, noisy house. I also hate autumn, so I am thinking I need to be VERY busy when that time comes. Life is about changes. I know that, but it sure is bittersweet to let your babies grow up!
So, how are you gals doing?

Hi Navy Moms - I'll be in the same boat as you soon my youngest just graduated HS and will be leaving for college 8/27 and my oldest will be leaving for BC on 8/31. My empty nest will be completely empty in less than a few days apart. My only two children will be gone and I am trying to hide my tears and make the best of the time we have left together as a family. I'll be making lots of projects to keep busy after my initial depression - Wow, I'm praying for strength for myself that God will get me through this. I know I'll be having to get my husband through it as well.
Don't know if it was good or bad but we devoted the last 20 years to our children. I do feel good that they have grown into two fine young men and trying to confirm in my head that they now have their own journey to continue. Anyway enough babble from me. Any advise for a future newby empty nester?

Cindy, I'm so sorry for your loss. God's comfort on you and your family. Tyler and I are heading up to be with my dad on his 95th birthday next week, so they can spend time together before he goes to GL. Dad is a WWII Army veteran, and Tyler looks up to him tremendously. It will be a joyous occasion for all because Tyler is the only one since Dad who is going military.
Why do I always get teary-eyed when I'm on this website- I guess because hearing from others makes it very real! Hang in there moms!

Thank you! My dad was Air Force for 4 years. He always said that he was in during peactime because they feared him. But he received full military honors at his interment at Fort Snelling. Really cool to have that done.

Hope you enjoy your vacation! My son was told by his recruiters that he could not leave town during his last month in DEP, so our vacation plans were disrupted. :(
I am realizing that I am NOT ready for my son to leave on 8/8!!
I am very proud, but feel almost panicky to realize his departure
is almost here!!!!!

Ohhhh that's awful!!!! We are leaving Saturday and were going to stay till the next Saturday but my son was told that he had to be at his DEP meeting on Thursday so he is having to come back early and even that upset me. I couldn't imagine him not being able to go at all!! I am also starting to panic and realizing Aug 16th is not that far away!!!!!

Yep, he was supposed to go on a mission trip leaving this Sunday and it was denied.
I think this last month they want them to sit on a puff and not move.
The Chief even told my son NOT to work out this month, because he could
get injured! EEK!
32 days until he leaves. :o !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!

OK everyone we are getting pretty close to August so how are we all doing? As this gets closer I have no clue how I am going to handle this. We went on our last family vacation last week and it was WONDERFUL!!! but this week I feel that my son is trying to distance himself....I'm not sure if its just my imagination or him truly preparing himself for this journey he is about to embark on. I know that this maybe "normal" but that doesn't make me feel any better. I find myself crying at the drop of a hat!!! I know these next couple of weeks will go by fast and I'm not sure I'm ready!!! I truly know this will be a wonderful experience for him and one that he will enjoy (maybe once out of bootcamp) and I'm SO PROUD of him but I can't come to terms with my "little boy" being a grown man that is leaving home!!! I truly THANK GOD for N4M as I don't think I would have gotten this far without y'all!!! Hope everyone else is doing ok!!!

Susan~ We are down to 18 days! I understand what you mean about your son distancing himself. I feel that at my house, too.
My son seems to go between being loving and attentive to wanting to zone out behind closed doors on X-box. He has gone through a lot of his room and sold his paintball gun, made a pile of stuff to toss out, etc.
I am certain he is feeling excited, scared, restless and apprehensive. I can not imagine making a 6 yr commitment at age 18.
I am so proud and happy, yet worried and sad for the hole his departure will leave in my heart.
We are going to miss him so much!

Four more weeks!! My daughter would actually be leaving tomorrow had she been sworn in the first time at MEPS. The hair has been cut already, just need to go shorter just before she leaves. We are hoping for a short girls vacation the week before she leaves. Luckily she won't miss her DEP mtg but may have to come home earlier in the day to go to the recruiters office for final paperwork. We will see!! We are gonna have a party for her a couple days before, to celebrate her 18th birthday and send her off the right way. So much to do, so little time. These last 5 months have went like...that.

Hello everyone!
My son Sean finally cleaned out his room today, and packed stuff away. We are all sooooo excited for him, but watching him do it....my tummy knotted up. He enlisted in October, and it's been a long time coming...but it's all realistic now. He has always been my best friend....and it's gonna be hard to let him go.
Thank you Dale, and all the other mommys out there for making me feel like I'm not the only one kinda freaking out. Thank you soooo much for the support!!!
