Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

So some of the people on Y!A are vague and I really just wanted to hear some stories about your son or daughter and their battle with weight before joining. I really just need to hear stories like that to stay motivated. I have to either lose 60 pounds to make weight, or 40 pounds to make tape.

 

please include all details you can like, how much weight did he/she have to lose, how long did it take them, and What they do in the navy. Thank you.

I wanted to give everyone an update, my son went to MEPS for the 2nd time on 5-10 and he lost 17 lbs in the 32 days he had to lose 9lbs.  He has currently lost 22 pounds since the 1st MEPS he went to.  He has been sworn in and is scheduled to leave for boot camp on Sept. 2nd.

My son had to lose 40 lbs., he's only 5 ft. tall, but he did it. He had to change his ship out date till he lost it though. He's happy that he's finally in boot camp and he sounds like he likes it. He told me that it was well worth it.

answer to your prayers is at mircleskinnydrops.com  I'm not in the navy but have struggled with weight loss my entire life, I am doing this and am 10 lbs away from losing 100 lbs.  I lost my first 37lbs in 26 days.   At the risk of sounding like an inframercial  both my sons going into the navy did the same and my oldest made his weight for his physical that day.  It works.  But you MUST read the Pounds and Inches protocol in it's entirety and do it exactly no cheating.  I promise it works.  I have no affiliation with that web sight just found it one desperate day googling... and it has been a God send.  My second son lost 5 inches on his waist in 26 days.  (he needs to do another round to lose 4 more but is working out this summer to see if he can do it that way first)... it isn't illegal and it isn't against any rules...it is not drugs... it is a homemopathic drop goes under the tongue.

 

Long story short in the course of a bit over two years our twenty two year old son lost over 155lbs so he could join the Navy.  He was dedicated achieving this.  He was on a life style mission.  As a child he always was one to achieve anything he set his mind to do and this was a big achievment most people wouldn't be able to do what he did and continues to do.  He did make weight and tape and is now in bootcamp I am sharing his before a after photo's with you all. Since this photo he has lost an additional twenty to thirty lbs.  Good luck, you can do it.  Sorry this is a bit late.

Debera, your son's story is so inspiring!!  My son had to lose 9 lbs and he has now lost 30 lbs, making him a solid 15 lbs under required weight.  He has signed all the paperwork and is leaving for Boot Camp on 9-2-11.  My younger son and I have both lost 25 lbs.  It's not easy but we all feel so much better!  I wish the very best for you and your son.
drink nothing but water, don't drink anything with sugar in it, drink about 10-12 glasses of water a day, run, if you eat about 1750 calories and work out about 500 cal each workout, you will lose 1 lb per day. Be persistent, you will lose it in no time. I lost 35lbs last summer, I go into basic in 2 days. I still have to be taped but I'm 3 lbs from my max weight which is 149. No pressure, seriously. If you want to lose it, you will lose it.
