Just curious - where are all the different "A" schools and what jobs go to each one.
I know that Master at Arms has a school on an Air Force base in San Antonio, Texas. My son is a Master at Arms, but he got sent to Dam Neck in Virginia Beach, VA. I know that alot of guys have "A" school in Great Lakes. There are about 20 different "A" schools across the street. Which ones stay there? I know the SEALS do.

Hi - Lake Charles!!!! You are just one hour from me - I live in Nederland - halfway between Port Arthur and Beaumont!!!

Derek likes some of "A" school - he is in a room by himself. He likes that because he is pretty quiet kid. He said he thinks they forgot he was there because they have not inspected his room and he graduates in two weeks. He also wanted to be a SEAL and even passed all the pre-testing phases. But the time committment got to him. He is now going for Master at Arms.

I am going to see him in about two weeks in Virginia Beach.
What is PIR? I am not familiar with that term..
PIR is Pass In Review - this is the bootcamp graduation.
That is the graduation day from bootcamp. Peer in Review
Pass in Review. It is the graduation ceremony. Check out Navy graduation on youtube.com. You can get a sense or preview of what the PIR sort of looks like.
He wants to hear all the boring , dull things. he won't say it like this, though. He is homesick and boring, dull car washing things are the things he misses! Yak away! During bc, I wrote about the weather, the messy city politics, etc. I had no drama to report . My sister wrote to my daughter all about their neighbor's dog, Lola! Elizabeth loved the news! Boring news but when they are away, everything is what they want to hear.
Does anyone have a child in Monterey California at DLIFLC ?

Amber
No, but it is a WONDERFUL area - lucky are those that do school there!
My nephew is a Seabee in Gulfport. He called us last night and said he has only been there three weeks but it feels like one week! Time is going by so fast but he loves it! He is learning his actual job now and doing some hands on work. Not too mention the weather is a tad better there than GL. LOL
Hi Jeanette. My son Paul is in Pensacola for Air Traffic Controllor. I just came back from visiting him there. He was on liberty this weekend so he could stay at the hotel with me. He brought along his friend Matt also. If you get a chance you should visit. I toured the base. It's really nice. All the guys are very friendly. Diane
My son just left today from GL for the same thing. Pensacola-- IT.
Hi Brenda - Like you, I find the A schools confusing..My son graduated 2/29/08..He started A school, electronics, and completed what I believe is the first phase. He has orders to be at A School until September. After BC, he moved, and now, he is moving again before he starts the next phase..I sure do miss him but I am so proud of him. Yesterday was my birthday and he called to wish me a happy birthday..I didn't know the Navy had so many different schools in so many different areas..
