It's so super confusing...I moved out here back in December and our stuff is still back home. We keep talking about moving it but we're not even sure if they'd still pay for it or if it's even worth it at this point as Hubbs is almost done with A-school. If there is a Navy base near you, you could go to Fleet and Family and talk to them and they should be able to give you some helpful info. If not, your hubbs can make an appointment to go talk to the transportation office here in GL. Also, you can start by setting up an account (or your husband anyways) at www.move.mil, and there's a link on the right side of the page that says "Root Certificate Problem Solution", follow that to download the certificate so the government web pages will load properly on your computer - took us a bit to figure out why stuff wasn't loading right, such a pain!
I was told the Navy wouldn't pay to move the family for A school unless the program is longer than 9 months. I am planning on staying here in Indiana with our 2 year old until my hubby finally gets stationed somewhere :( Good luck!
If you are near a base you can also talk to the Personal Property Office they can help you set up a move. He should be able to at his school wherever that is. My husband was actually told he had to do it before he checked out for his first move (it later got cancelled but thats a whole other story!!) but they should be able to help you, you can also email fleet and family at the Great Lakes they should be able to send you information on housing, moving and much more. My husband also went into Fleet and Family on his base and they put together a whole packet for him on the base we were moving to and moving info. Also make sure he asks about the Dislocation Allowance, no one told my husband about it except another kid who had found out about it. Hope that helps!
Another good place for your questions is in the N4M group PCSing/Moving - link: PCSing/Moving
